I think one thing is for certain and that is as it stands our squad will be weaker than it has been for the last few years. It was clear from last season we needed to strengthen but the opposite is happening.

I don't have much issue with losing the majority of players who have left or the reasons behind it - with the exception of Larne - but what I have an issue with is if you release / sell / lose a player and you have ambition you should replace them with stronger players or at least those of an equal standard. In the main, this simply doesn't appear to happening and I can only assume that this is due to an effort to reduce the wage bill.

If it is the case that this is what they are doing then the club should be honest with the fans. If anyone can currently work out the logic of the comings and goings at the club, they are a better person than me.

I've said it many times before, until we get better crowds and thus, more money, we won't be getting any 'big names' for a while. It is pretty clear that we are trying to reduce outgoings on wages etc ......it isn't ideal but as a club we simply cannot carry on bringing quality into the squad without the finances for it.

I completely agree - I don't want to end up like Bradford or numerous other clubs but why can't the club just be honest and say this.

My opinion ....because certain sections of our fanbase would hammer them for it, not because of what they are doing but because they don't understand why, to some of our fans we are a top club who should be bringing the worlds best players to the club and if they don't they criticise them for not doing so, threaten to withdraw their support, slag the club/players/staff off on social media etc etc.

Maybe the club just think its easier to deal with stuff without informing fans what's going on....personally i wish they would be more open but can understand why they would be reluctant to be.

I don't think certain sections would like it no- but it's happening anyway so why risk peeing off those that are going to be peed off anyway (those certain sections) AND those that WOULd accept it better if there was a degree of honesty!!!

the club has recently invested in a full time academy too, hardly cutting costs.

one player i was not happy to see leaving was kaufusi...but that was his choice not the clubs, not surprised the way he was treated by anderson really.

i think some of our fans would rather see us go the way of hull kr and have wholesale changes every season bringing in 8 players, least it would make the off season entertaining.. we wouldnt be finishing in the playoffs every season if we did but at least it would give some fans something to talk about.

we have a settled club with sponsors all renewing and little in and outs with players.. not chaos like some clubs.. top 4 for how many seasons now? still we havent won anything but we are still punching way above our weight, this last paragraph is probably a good reason for that too

Well posted Daz.The club on many occasions have their hands tied,take the players coming into the club and those leaving most did not want it made public so the club honoured their wishes.Daz is spot on we need more spectators to generate more finances to sign better class players.I have on several occasions contacted Richard Thewlis by email,telephone and face to face and I found him to be very open and honest to every question I put to him yet this guy is pulled to pieces by posters on this forum by people who should certainly know better,Richard is the MD of the Giants and as such relays the decisions of the 'BOARD' not his personal views.Reading this forum convinces me that most posters have a true love of RL and especially the Giants but there are times when it seems some guys let their keyboard run away from them.
Finally RL is a team game (not just the players)but from the lowest office person up to the Chairman(and us spectators) it cannot be an easy task for any of them and having some posters pulling them to bits at every opportunity must make them wonder if it is at all worth it.

So perhaps they need to change the way they do things. I'm sorry but I just feel that this thing is all a bit underhand.
Wane stated there would be no more signings for wigan this season, supporter association members told last week larne wasn't going. Now he's off "on loan" for a year- but if you read larnes comments and tweets it doesn't sound like he's planning to come back for the final year of his contract! When asked if he is he doesn't reply!

HGSA is one way of getting information from the club. However, if no-one asks us, how do we know what people want to know?

Yes, we like to think that HGSA is the voice of the fans, but fewer than 200 have bothered to join. I've had the experience of supporters laughing in my face when distributing our literature at matches. The more people who join us, the louder our voice will be to the board. You don't like what we're doing or the way we express things, join the committee. You dislike what the chairman does, stand against him at the AGM.

This year we have raised £2000 for the youth development at the club. Just think how much more we could help the club if we had 2000 members.

Stating you won't be signing anyone else and then revealing quality signing is a fair bit different to saying one of your core squad players won't be leaving and then letting him go.

I do understand the point you are making but if that is the conscious decision the club has made for its strategy for fan engagement then it's a worrying one.

The club has failed to attract the new support it required so it's being pushed into making these tough decisions - fully understandable. But to then treat those supporters it has with a wall of silence (in respect of official statements of their strategy) with the assumption that they won't continue to support the club or because they are scared of the criticism they will get from those fans is just short-termism at its worst.

I agree with you they need to be more open but have less sympathy as to understanding why they are not.

Some Huddersfield fans were quick to dismiss the rumours about Patrick leaving and equally were sure Lunt wouldn't be signing for Hull KR.

Just because you haven't heard the rumours and the player apparently denied it on social media doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Ken Davey can afford to financially support the Giants as long as he wishes and unlike both Korcash and Pearson he will no doubt be around for the long run but even he will eventually become reluctant. I fear unless Giant fans support there team in bigger numbers then Mr Davey may choose to cut his cloth a little more closely.

these people at the giants don't always tell the truth but they never tell a lie i had several pre match meals asked questions to paul morgan,richard thewlis and paul crib reguarding the signing of players days before huby was announced was told didn't know anything about and the ellis signing answer don;t think so has ivor says ask the club i did its just the way this outfit operates a vale of secrecy why announce something at 7 in the morning

If a player became available that would improve our team then I'm sure Ken Davy would break the bank to bring him here as long as we stay within the salary cap. He's owned the club for years now and has always backed the coach and the club to the hilt and I can't see that stopping now. We are on the verge of winning something big and after many years of trying to get the club to this stage I can't for the life of me see Ken Davy closing the purse strings and cutting back costs.

I've said it all along, once we get to a Grand Final or win the Challenge Cup the crowds will increase at the Giants, we've got the diehards who turn up week in week out but new fans are needed to kick on to the next level and winning silverware is what competitive sport is all about and entices new fans through the gates. We've been in the basement of RL for years up until the start of the SL era and now we are one of the top clubs who players want to play for. We've grown year on year under Ken Davy and that will continue to be the case.

Players will come and players will go but there's not many clubs to go to that will be a step up for the players leaving the Giants. We'll have another good season in 2015, Anderson has quite a good record in the transfer market and there's not many players who have left us and have gone on to better themselves. The players who come to the Giants in general kick on and this will be a good selling point for the club when trying to bring a player in.

We've all heard the rumours about Lunty going to KR but 100% he will be in a Giants shirt next season, end of.
