| But so do the others who fail to stop the man before he gets near Grix !! thats my point about people blaming him when in reality there is very little he can do once the others have failed in their job

| Quote fartown since 1961="fartown since 1961"I wasn't calling for PA's head I said he got it wrong albeit not for the first time this season.
However the big turning point was 2-0 down no pressure on the kicker and Grix's weak attempt to stop the 40-20.
We were clinging on for grim death and he monsied across and at the last minute realised he'd got it wrong.
Murphy would have got that based on his positional sense the week before can't say we still wouldn't have been mullered but you could see the heads go down !!
The guy who's says he's class well he weren't tonight along with most of the others to be fair !!'"
I called him class. He is. May not be a world beater but he's class. Any full back would have been ripped apart tonight as the last line of defence. Boo hoo, he took a risk letting the ball bounce once more for the 40/20 for an easier catch. It all happens fast. That wasn't what lost us that game.
Why not slate your favourite full back Murphy for his mistakes tonight and the rest of them for not working as a unit, running out of the line whenever they felt like it, giving penalties away and falling off of tackles.
Tonight was a shocking TEAM performance. Get a grip.

| Grix isn't to blame for the defeat.
I just think we have better fullbacks than him. Simple as that.

| You guys had no intention of trying to win tonight and if you avoid Wigan in the knockout semi then the final could still beckon but i'm afraid you are probably not up to winning that .Wigan are odds on in my mind and i think you got the worst of the finishing positions to play them and Baloo leaving out Brough was happy to give this one away and your players looked like at times they were just trying to avoid injury

| there is no way that grix should be blamed last night, yes i thought he was poor, so were 16 others!
you can't blame a full back for a team conceding 10 tries, most of them without a hand being laid on them, yes he could have done better with some of the 1 on 1's, but he shouldn't be getting exposed like that, if we put effort in to tackling the opposition then breaks don't happen, and our full back isn't left exposed like that.
grix took some unmerited stick last night but to blame him is just plain ridiculous. they were all bad!

think they were also trying to avoid bending their backs, tackling, stopping offloads, etc etc.

I don't think we currently do as an all rounded. Maybe if we played one of Murphy or Connor for an entire season one could learn to more effective than Grix.
Consistently in my opinion
Murphy is best under the high ball.
Grix comes into the line better.
Grix organises the defence better.
Connor returns the ball better.
Murphy defends better.
Connor has better pace.
All depends in what you want from a fullback.
If our forwards are on top and we are able to play good rugby. I'd always play Grix. In last nights game he wasn't himself. He looked lost... Wigan were outstanding and a fullback being the last line of defence was always going to be an impossible task.
I honestly think we'll see a different side next week if Brough and Bailey return. Old Trafford is still out focus.

| Got to disagree AntGiant, Grix comes into the line better? Better than what? A winger with no previous experience of playing in a ball playing position. This is Grix's best quality but its nothing to shout about. If passing along the line and the ball gets to grix he very rarely lets it go, its just off the cuff stuff. I don't even think he organises the defense better.. but that's just my opinion
Murphy at fullback for me and a trade Robinson in for a newer model please!

| Grix had a good record against us in the recent past.
Other people to blame.
Crabtree way from being anywhere near fit last night, too much put on Robinson, who was behind a dominated pack

| Full back is the last line of defence. I expect a full back to make the odd one on one try saving tackle after everybody else has failed.
I don't expect him to make all of them, or even the majority however please tell me the last time Grix made a last ditch/try saving tackle.
Folk saying he is great at joining the line. Brilliant. Doesn't make him a good FB. Connor has scored some crackers with late runs onto the line and he is an 18 year old lad with less than a dozen SL games to his name.
Don't get me wrong. We could have had billy slater at full back last night and we would have still got bummed.
My frustration is that we have better players for that position. He does not have to work to get back on the team for some reason. As soon as he's fit he's an automatic choice.
Shaun Wine didn't put Charnley straight back in after his injury. He made him work for it and kept the young lad malfrandi in who had earned his right to play.
