| well said bacon i for one totally agree with you, must admit when we came up to wembley couldnt believe the amouint of wire fans, that not to say the numbers who followed the giants were poor for me it was an excellent turn out from the giants, maybe not vocal enough but still there hoping for a victory which wasnt to be fair play to wire and their support lets hope we become part of a new big 3 with hkr

| Quote ="Bacon"Although I can understand the disappointment of some of you with others amongst your support for not being as vocal as you would have liked, I personnally would like to commend every one of you that made it to the game.
Lets be honest, wether you made a weekend of it or went for the day you would have made a substantial financial commitment so watch your team, that alone shows passion for your club!
Every Huddersfield fan we spoke to before and after the game were fantastic and we had great banter all weekend, especially with the Hudds fans on our our campsite (Ponner and his family) who didn't even mind us 'borrowing' their big Huddersfield flag from their tent at 3 in the morning!
I personnally think that maybe your fans were possibly a little subdued by the walk onto Wembley way and the shear volume of Primrose and Blue support. Giants fans we chatted to on the walk in were gob-smacked by the numbers of Wire support and seemed a bit shell shocked by it.
Also the events of the game early on certainly wouldn't have helped and coupled with loss of Brown it was understandable really. Like has been said earlier on this thread, our support went a bit flat before half time when when the Giants started to fight back!
Huddersfield are a team on the up and your support will start to grow if you maintain the on-field performances! Best of luck in the play-offs!'" You were a great set of lads a pleasure to camp next to.

How many of those would have gone to Wembley if the £5 offer wasn't on? Very few, if any, probably?
How many who don't go to Town games (or only attend a few select games) would not have gone to this game if the £5 offer wasn't on? A couple of thousand possibly?
Are HTFC not allowed to market the game to attract extra revenue, considering they may have lost some who attend both Giants & Town games plus Yeovil fans who would not make the journey at that time?
The Giants would not have lost any considerable support at Wembley due to this offer.

Mark, still keep laughing about your booby trapped flag!
Trying to undo safety pins is nearly impossible when:
a) It's pitch black
b) You have consumed copious amounts of beer
c) You are trying to stifle giggling fits!
My thumb still resembles a pin cushion!!
Hopefully see you next year at the Theobalds if Wires and Giants get there!

In this dog eat dog world I suppose so LF!!
But when as a keen Giants supporter I get an e-mail telling me about the
£5-00 offer and inviting me to "come down" -and the only way they could have got my e-mail is via the Giants database as Ive never contacted the "Town " regime in my life --it strikes me as a stab in the back for K.D
On Wembley day ?? One of the biggest days in the town of Huddersfield`s and a Giants supporters calendar??
Some cooperation between the two clubs !!
The bloody nerve of it !!

| Not really sure of your ground sharing arrangements and logistics but who holds sway with power between the football and rugby teams?
Obviously at Wigan the football team are the main priority and I just wondered with some potential home play off games on the horizon for you could you ever find yourselves in the position of being kicked out for the day??

| No, much to the chagrin of the footy fans (or at least a vocal minority) the AFC dont hold the keys to the stadium, Ken Davey does.

If Town stick at £5 throughout the season then that's fantastic and I would be right behind them...something tells me they won't.

Me too.
Mind you, can't say I'd follow them at all at any price and if they were at Wembley and we had a game at home I'd be at the Pharm if they charged 5.00, 16.50 or 18.50.
Infact if the misses said I need to cut the lawn that's where I'd be with joy, PS I still reckon that Town Terrier has flees!

| I'd go watch Town at Wembley. I had a ST for HTFC in the past. I don't find the games as enthralling as the rugby but I do follow them. I'd support any team representing the Town. Tiddlywinks, yodelling, bog snorkelling, the lot.

| If you remember many of our town folk went to Wembley to support Emley in the 80's, thinking it'd be a fair few years till they went again with another Huddersfield team. This time around though many think Town'll be there soon enough. Though saying that I met a fair few Town fans nearly all Davy haters down at Wembley just as suprised to see me there as I was to see them. I asked why they had come down and the overall saying was we wanted to see the new wembley, not actually support the Giants.
I was suprised to see the attendance at the Town match though it didn't look like such a large crowd apparently, and the attendance wasn't expected to be so high as a third of consessions were closed!

I think that sums it all up, the only positive will be the financial reward for the club...but I can't stand day trippers. Even the fans who went along but supported other teams are better in my eyes, at least they actually LOVE rugby league.

| Well, look at the positives. If Town ever get to the new Wembley and we have a game on the same day, cheap tickets to watch the Giants all round
Why didn't Town move their game backward or forward ?
Something tells me if the Rhinos had been playing at Wembley in the CC, I don't think Leeds United would be letting fans in for a fiver against whoever is in their division on that day.

| people in the town have never (or not for many many years) supported the teams in it well. Last time HTFC were in the top flight (nearly 40, yes thats right 40 years ago) they didn't average many more than they do now.
Huddersfield town are at the correct level for them, somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd division(in old money) many of their supporters are deluded into thinking this should be higher but there is no justification for this.

| recent history suggests otherwise, Stoke ? Lets look at a few facts.......
Stoke own their own premier league standard stadium, acadamy and training ground (soon to be rebuilt at a cost of 5 million) net worth 35 million pounds...
Stoke finished 12th in the Premier league last year. Prize money worth 35 million approx
Stoke have a squad worth upwards of 50 Million pounds.
Stoke have 20,000 season ticket holders.
and a little further back........
Stoke have spent 50 plus years of their history in the top flight.
Stoke were founder members of the football league.
to try and compare Stoke City and Huddersfield town is at best non plausible and at worst laughable.

| Look I realise you love Stoke but don't deride HTFC.
Thrice champions. Stoke will never do that. Never. THAT is non-plausable. They'll be doing cartwheels in the street if they just stay up. Best home attendance of 67k+. Will Stoke be getting anywhere near that in the near future? I would wager not. Will Stoke be winning any trophies this season? Naaa.
Stoke are just passengers, also rans in a league of 4 teams. In 3 years they could be where Norwich, Charlton or Leeds Utd are. Or maybe even down with Bradford in the bottom tier. So enjoy it while it lasts. It wont last forever, I'd stake my last quid on it.
Nice squad value there. You'd have to be a Stoke fan to believe that!

| Have to disagree somewhat
I'm not deriding Huddersfield Town but they are at their natural level now. history suggests that.
as for the rest of your post well, we did cartwheels when we stayed up last year, thats true. but we have the infastructure in place to now kick on and become a truly established top flight team. we do not pay stupid money on wages, we have a home support like no other in England. thats a fact.
as for going back to the dim and distant well if that gives you comfort then so be it. the 3 times in a row was a phenomenal achievement and the whole town should be proud of that.(the current interest in the team suggests otherwise) as for the attendence, lets look at season averages for HTFC through the years and not at one large cup tie v nal, most teams can point to one game when everyone turned up. I do believe they had 50,000 at Vale Park once.
the way the game is heading it is vital that any club in the lower leagues with visions of becoming a premier league club does so now as the difference between the leagues is now a chasm. Hudds Town need to act NOW !
when Stoke missed out on promotion in 1996/7 to Leicester it cost us 3 million pounds. now the cost of missing out is at least 50 million including parachute payments. thats the cost of the far east tv deal signed a few years ago.
in 3 years we have become a club bought for 7 million into one worth around 100 million, as we have no debt and lots of tangible assets. all brought about by SKY. now if all that money finishes lots of teams would be in lumber as they pay stupid wages out every week. well we dont do that. remember benite carbone at bradford !!
5 years ago i would almost agree that Hudds and Stoke were almost on a level playing field. Now however its a different statosphere........

sorry BG was typing the last post when you put yours on.............
so the general worry is that we will never get bigger support from the town in order to maintain a superleague club if/when KD steps down ???

| This thread started badly and then deteriorated. Time to lock it and get on with supporting the Giants.
The last thing we want to do is alienate another Giants fan even if he does support Stoke
