| Was the crowd at Wakefield tonight with a healthy following from Wigan it seemed, thing is we have been slaughtered in the past for crowds a lot bigger than that so is the crowd criticising just something that's saved for us ?
No doubt the excuses and reasoning we have given in the past will now suddenly become acceptable as it's not us !!
Even at our worse we rarely had crowds that low !!

| Yes it does- and wakefield will no doubt blame their recent performances. - but Daz is correct it's only us that it's aimed at- getting hammerings for years isn't a good enough excuse.
Last season stevo and Eddie were banging on about Cas and how the crowd had turned out in numbers when there were a little over 7000 there. We get similar snd it's a different story- because we have a bigger stadium it looks emptier.
But let's be honest- we are used to it by now- and it isn't going to change so we will have to stay used to it.

| There looked to be 300-400 from wigan so yes a poor turnout from wakey but u can't blame them really
But if we had that crowd we would be absolutely hammered for it ..considering we have been a top 4 team recently pur crowds are pitiful we know that but no one else seems to warrant the criticism as much as us

| I genuinely feel that last season of Browns (2012) did real damage for newer fans, who may sometimes be more fickle, than those of us who stood among 350 watching a struggle to get 30 past Runcorn. That losing run we went on then going out to Wire in the Semi did a lot of damage, stopped a lot of momentum dead in its tracks did that second half of the season. If it wasn't for that I think we would be another 1000 or two more than we are now. l couldn't give a monkeys what people say about our crowds, all they are doing is banging on to the converted, I'll be there and thats all I can really guarantee, so why let it bother you? If thats the biggest thing they can throw at us, so be it, like I said 'they are banging on to the converted.'

| now put that 3,107 in our stadium and on tv.
Because its in a smaller ground its somehow not as bad
we have a stigma attached to us regarding crowds im afraid.
good to see some fans changing their tune though such as hull kr and warrington fans who have applauded our away support recently.

Not wanting to repeat myself, but your fans were noisy as hell on Easter Monday, and a decent number as well.
However, I only came over to big you up for humping our neighbours tonight!

| Yes nothing will be made a big deal of it. And yes we get stick for much better crowds than that but as I say to people who mock us what do the individual Wigan Leeds wire saint fans do on a week go round rustling up support.....no they wait till the weekend and turn up with 10000 other like minded people!
Mocking any teams support on the basis of number seems harsh when directed at those who do turn up.

| Yeah but Wakey are in a bit of an odd situation in as much as their season doesn't start until round 24.
The stupidity of the new structure is that a club gains nothing for going all out to try and scrape into the top 8 (and end their season early cos the 8th place team will have virtually 0 chance of making the top 4) because if it fails it starts the middle 8 in exactly the same position as a club that tanks the regular season, loses 23 games and finishes bottom. Similarly Leigh are flying in the Championship but this garners them no advantages for the middle 8.
Therefore the first 23 rounds may as well not be played as far as Wakefield are concerned and it's hard to sell that to anyone. If we were in that position I'd be pretty ambivalent about attending games as well. The reality is we have something to play for for 23 rounds, wakey don't. It's an embarrassment to the sport (the situation, not Wakey's crowds) and I'd hope after all the "Every Minute Matters" guff that the RFL and SKY have been spouting ever since the structure was announced someone is feeling pretty damned ashamed at this moment in time (not James Webster though cos he seems to be the only person with the brains to spot something that should've been blindingly obvious from the start). So it's no wonder they don't want to bring attention to the situation.
If the RFL had a brain cell between them instead of having the middle 8 playing starting level and having 7 fixtures with each team playing the other once, they would make it 8 fixtures with the Superleague teams playing the Championship teams home and away and points from the first 23 rounds BETWEEN THE 4 TEAMS FROM EACH DIVISION carrying over ie if Leigh win every game they start with 12 points, if Wakey lose every game they start with 0.

i agree
for us, if we dont finish in the top 4 then we may aswell not bother as we wont be winning anything, Anderson basically said the same at the start of the season, this is why a top 4 finish is so important and i will be disappointed if we dont get in the top 4. wont be easy though and thats the way it should be, has its pros and cons this new league structure

| So. back to my point - why is it only Huddersfield who get bagged for low crowds no matter how bad other's are ?
It's not 'huddersfield fans having a go at other clubs crowds' it's a simple question, why do others not get the same attention ours do ?

| so whats salfords excuse for the 2,800... cant be same as wakefields as some say its because they are bottom of the league and no point going till its the middle 8's... season tickets holders will still go though... we have more season ticket holders than both clubs but others would tell you different
like ive said before its stuck with us now this poor crowds thing, maybe its because we have started winning more regular and they need something else to say...
also it looks worse with the international stadium we play in... no other club could fill i might add

| The reason for poor crowds
Salford- Have only very recently acquired a good team, it will take time for them to build their crowds. The stadium is in a horrendous place and really out of the hub of what was formally a strong Rugby League community. I don't sympathise with the Doctor like others because should he maintain the team the crowds will come
Wakey- They are having a terrible season, that won't truly kick in until after the split. They have been sliding down the table for years and their limbo with regards to their stadium has left fans disgruntled. Its a poor stadium and fans don't wanna stand there get wet and watch their team get hammered every week.
The reason we are slated
We have been slowly building an impressive and competitive team since Davy took over the club, before I was even born. This slow build did for a while see and increase in crowds. We are a successful team with a trophy (ok a shield) to our name, unfortunately the crowds don't reflect that. As it has been pointed out its a bit embarrassing.
Being on twitter, I get slated week in week out, but I feel content in knowing that I am a loyal fan that misses 1/2 games a season home and away. The fanzine has tried but Huddersfield doesn't seem interested right now, they might after a 2015 Grand Final trophy

| I worry about how insular Huddersfield fans are getting. I don't remember this siege mentality from you guys in the past, always seemed a broad thinking, interested in RL as a whole group of fans in the past but this kind of thing doesn't do you any favours. If you honestly think Salford haven't been criticised for poor crowds the you're living in a fantasy world. There've been whole threads on the VT about our crowds, London's crowds, wakey's crowds. Even our (Salford) own owner and CEO have been critical of our low crowds never mind other clubs and the media

| can any team boast an average crowd increase as much as ours in the last 20 years?
wasnt we in the hundreds during the late 80's 90's?
take some doing to suddenly get new fans out of nowhere , the successful clubs during the above time period will likely still be going now and taking their children whereas we have had to start a new generation all together in some respects
