£400,000 the Mason case has cost.
Despite all the embarrassing stuff before it now turns out to be even worse
the the Giants refused to hand over all the appropriate documents early so suffered extra costs
They failed to pay a bond on legal fees of ( £35,000) late so had to pay an extra £5,000
days before the case Mason offered to settle for £100,000 the Giants offered £5000 and preferred to go to court
Richard Thewlis declined to comment
The Giants legal advisor should be sacked for gross incompetence

well why cant they? are they going to collapse all of a sudden like crusaders?
off the field we have had our problems, not for this first time i might add! but on the field everything is rosy
the court case is over now, we should move on too and learn from the mistakes.
thewlis can do a good job and get broughton and bailey signed up now

| £400k is a big wedge is all.
When your going to court for £150k and they say they'll settle for £100k you don't offer them £5k! Maybe £95k but not 5

Who's to say we cannot afford these players now? We may need to make savings. LOD wasn't replaced earlier this season and Fergie & George both gone. Maybe we need to save £400k...

| I feel your pain as fans sometimes you just have to wonder don't you 400k is a large chunk of anyones cash.
Hull have had problems with the last BOD trying to cover something up when it would have cost them a lot less embassment if they had just come clean from the off.

| So, he offered to settle for 100,000, we refuse and offer 5,000 - was he really going to accept that ? another mistake !!
I still cannot for the life of me understand why or who thought we weren't going to get hammered over this !

yes we may need to make more savings..
whos to say this is one of the reasons LOD left and wasnt replaced.
we got cash for eden too.
we can get abit of cash from finishing top and the play offs too that will help pay mason and also better season ticket sales (you would think so!)
other than that ken davy will have to fork out...hopefully some of it by the insurers.
still think we will see bailey and broughton next season. doesnt have to be wholesale changes.

| When all is said and done, one thing no-one has mentioned so far is the Giants' bankability viz. the higher sponsorship deals they will be able to command.
With the amount of tele exposure we have had this season, our main sponsors should be willing to cough up a much bigger wodge next year, probably cover the Mase money and some.

| What about the ones who may not like the way Huddersfield Giants conduct themselves in light of the judgement? Just saying before anyone starts throwing their toys! Your stock would have been a lot better without it!
If I read it correctly he had 3 years left on a £95k p.a. contract and offered to go for £100k but Huddersfield offered him £5k? That's unbelievable! Could this be a double-sided kick in the pants now with the Kopczak saga? Would this strengthen Bradfords case or is all that sorted now?

| Just remember that the 'facts' you are quoting came from a newspaper. And newspapers are always accurate. Right???
I also beg to differ that the club is the villain in this case. The Giants weren't the ones who posted revolting photos online. Whatever the ins and outs of what followed, the club made a stand for decency. But perhaps the legal advice wasn't top drawer.
Just my personal opinions, and I know no sums of money involved.

I know you're an intelligent man; you don't believe that. What the club did was indecent. Put yourself in Keith Mason's shoes.
I find it distasteful that the club has continued to bang their head against the brick wall by talking of 'decency' after being found guilty of unlawful dismissal in a court of law.
It is also ludicrous that the club was unable to pay a bond in good time. But the most ridiculous thing of all is that nobody has either fallen on their sword or been given the bullet..... whoever was/is responsible for this debacle is still there, and clearly doesn't give a sh*t.

| Seems like the club used this as an easy excuse to dismiss an employee. How detailed was the clubs investigation one wonders following the picture posting. Seems like Scott Moore brought more trouble than he was worth second time around. I don't blame Keith Mason one bit. Bitten us on the backside a bit at Stuart only played 9 games (albeit through no fault of his own). I blame Nathan Brown.

I agree with you .....i have no legal knowledge etc but even i can see from just reading the extracts that have been available to me that the club is in the wrong and have made big mistakes - if i could see that why couldn't the people running the club at the time.

revolting photo! it was a bare backside for goodness sake, posted as a joke! are you that much of a prude!! god forbid how you react when a player gets dacked on the pitch!
bet you think the sun shines out the clubs derrier!
after a great season so far its a shame that it has tarnished it but the only fault seems to lay at the giants door!
