| Just got home from the game dissapointed but hey always next season.
The point of this post as you will gather is to wonder where all the fans went tonight - oh yes that would be the couldn't bothered brigade!. Fair play to Leeds and for that matter most teams in Super league as least they get out and support the team unlike our fair weather mob!. Respect to all of those few thousand that bothered to turn up and SUPPORT THE TEAM. Shame on those of you who couldn't be bothered or decided to watch it at home just because we got hammered by Wire or because the referee wasn't to their liking!.
The number of empty seats tonight in the home sides was embarrassing for an elimination semi. Honestly I was in the Direct Gold Stand and there were the same loyal 'mature' ladies (pensioners) who turn up week after week where was everyone else?.
I do wonder what Ken and the players will be thinking - the apathy amongst some of the Giants fans is unbelievable. I know everyone has a choice to attend but tonight was an absolute joke.
Respect to those who got off their backsides to attend - with a bit more luck we would have beaten Leeds as they were rattled and a reason why they won't win the comp however fair play to them we didn't play for the 80 minutes.
Most fickle fans in Super league - WITHOUT DOUBT those would be ours then!.

| Got to agree, i knew loads of regulars who sit by me who weren't there tonight .....some openly told me they couldn't be bothered and were gonna watch it on TV.
We seem to have this problem more than any other team whereas out fans just cant be bothered coming to the games.

| We must have bad parents in Leeds... how dare we bring so many over when the kids should be in bed... THE KIDS!!
Same goes for our home games too. 15k on average every other Friday. The walls are always full with kids on them and theres thousands more stood and sat too. No wonder this city is turning to ****

| Maybe some people thought they'd not bother putting the effort in after watching the Giants team spend the last two months doing the same?
You can't blame people for not going tonight after the garbage we've had to sit through in the past weeks.
Simple fact is after last week I'm surprised anyone went at all.

| I think it must be said that if it's kids that aren't turning up - we shouldn't be marketing towards 6-7 year olds. Look, I'm 16, and where I'm at school, everyone loves rugby. When I tell people that it makes more sense to buy a Fartown season ticket than to go to 5 Leeds Carniege/Leeds Rhinos games, they're shocked. NOBODY EVER TELLS THE TEENS! Go to the Town game tomorrow, and try and count the groups of 16-18 year old lads at the game, you'll count thousands, and those are the lads that shout, chant and get behind the team.
Look, I know a lot of fans have families, but we can't really rely on 5-12 year olds to be the majority of our support. There were 3,000 there from Fartown tonight, if the club would have gone into Secondary Schools and the Primary Schools to get their support, we could have had a lot more. For what its worth, I've converted 7 people to getting Season Tickets from my year, 2 from the year above, and all are going away next year, another girl is considering it (and she named her hamster after Eorl) and a couple more may just get one to become casual fans. There is a significant market for Huddersfield Giants supporters among my age-group, but Thewlis has traded a Family status above significant raises in team attendance in the last few years.

| Where do you think big crowds come from?
What's happened to the 20k Bradford used to get? Where have Wire's full houses come from?
Fickle fans are what big crowds are made of and they want to see a winning team. So why not have a bit of realism and stop bloody whinging.

| Less of the language if you don't mind - who's 'bloody whinging? I am just stating a fact, making a point, you know that is what a forum is for isnt it? a forum which you moderate?.
One bad game and our crowds drop by 50%. Your point is flawed - I am referring to one game - tonight's. You are referring to two other clubs over a longer period who may have a seen a reduction in crowd numbers but certainly not the apathy on display this evening.
You thought the support was decent tonight then I presume. I guess you did.

| One bad game? Have you seen many Giant's games since May? We've been awful this second half of the season, I mean actually woeful; which culminated last Friday with a well deserved thrashing. Why should people pay out £15 to watch their team not even show up? People want to be entertained, entertaining matches have been far and few in-between for the second half of the season for Giants fans.

| Over the years i have learnt to be less critical of our fans particularly on the forums.
I am not surprised at last nights turnout and i do not blame anyone of them for not attending.
We have been poor for a long time, fans are disillusioned, money is tight, it was on TV, kids and their mums dont go to evening KOs EVERYONE one of them has their reasons for not going. It is their choice.
Coming on here and slagging our fans off hardly does anything to improve the situation.
Get out ansd build the club rather than pasively stand by and slag everyone off. Connorgiants fan has the right idea. He is getting people to come to games, a lot more useful than posting on a forum how crap everyone else is to make your self feel better.

I read this and honestly couldn't believe it, I agree, fans are fickle but not to this extent.
Basically what you are saying is that despite having a reasonably good season, finishing 4th in the league and putting in some great performances along the way, ONE drubbing and that's it? Time to put the scarf and rattle away?
Talk about your major dummy spit, you get your ar[size=100s[/sizees handed to you ONCE and you're not bothered any more.
Bradford's 20k didn't disappear over night, Warrington didn't turn up to the Halliwell Jones one Friday evening and suddenly there was 10K more home fans.
As the OP stated "the most fickle fans in SL" and on the above post I'm finding it hard to disagree with them.

Why have I turned up week in, week out to watch the Rhinos go through an awful season, getting spanked by the top 4 (well three). I've paid for away tickets that have cost up to around £19. I've paid for the challenge cup run, both play off games and not been entertained one bit at some games. Crusaders away being the prime example.
Fickle is the best word to describe them!

Spot on
And last nights turnout from us was poor, getting 4th spot meant we had the advantage of being at home last night, did the fans help make that advantage count

| I'm not meaning to be controversial here, but I've never seen a massive support for the Giants at the Galpharm Stadium at any time I've ever been there. The place is never full in the way you see at Wigan, Warrington etc. But thats just the way it is when the place and the town are sharing support with a football club I guess. It's slightly different at Wigan where the town is known as a RL town first footy town second. The Giants obviously have their loyal core support, but they'll probably never have quite the same numbers as Wigan, Wire, Saints, Leeds etc.......

Where has this one bad game come from
My sister sent me a text midweek asking if i was going to the game this weekend as she was thinking about not going. I texted back and said why was she not going and she responded with , Wire, Bradford, Wigan, crusdaers.
she did not think she could take anymore and felt we would have no chance.
We have won 4 games in the last 15. Support and confidence has been draining away for the last 4 months.
Whilst i wanted us to win last night i am partly relieved we didnt because i could guarantee i would spend 50 or 60 quid next week , drive 250 miles to Warrington to watch us get tonked and then i wold have been feeling really C R A P at that point.
If we had sneaked a win yesterday ourv players would have ben exhausted next week. At least we went out gallantly rather than being routed.
( in the end all of the family went)

| i know our turnout was poor, but out of all the play off games this year, i bet only one team managed to get a crowd that was more than their average for the season.. granted a lot of the fans came from leeds, but wire had only 10,000 last week which is well below average and wigan-saints got a massive crowd of 14,000?.. also below average, its not just the giants is it?
