Not normally one to promote SARL but this was one of the better articles about St Helens financial plight.
For all the people who think we should scrap the salary cap, this appears to be a big warning. St Helens have dominated the Super League, along with Wigan, Leeds and Bradford. The Bulls have gone pop many times since their heyday, but it highlights that all the clubs are spending more than they earn.
According the article "That year (2022-23), loss tripled to £1,319,274, and total revenues slightly fell from around £9.25 million to close to £9.1 million."
Even Deggsy would struggle to cope with a continued loss year on year of £1.3M.
The answer for McManus is squeeze more money out of SkySports, not bring the costs down. The Salary cap is £2.1M and SkySports estimated that St Helens have spent £2.7M on players wages and have an average attendance of around 12,000 for their home games.
Derek has previously stated that scrapping the salary cap would result in more money bleeding out the game to the same Players and Agents with no benefit in terms of improved quality of players.
Everybody knows the game is on a knife edge, the governing body is making cuts due to reduced turn-over and the IMG contract is costing big bucks for no perceptible benefits to the clubs. As a side note Halifax and Whitehaven are both fighting for survival, so my message to McManus is sort your own mess out and stop asking for handouts. Live within your means.

| Satanic, I wish I was privy to such insider information, but Leigh Leopards are financially a clandestine operation. St Helens Rugby Football Club Limited was straightforward to find on Companies House.
Derek Beaumont is complex character who is both free and cagey with information surrounding the club. For instance 2017 Season, Derek announced that the club made a profit in that season, due mostly to not being able to spend the full Salary Cap. The 2022 Season in the Championship, Leigh received a parachute payment from Super League but it is believed that Derek supported the club to a tune of about £1M. At an estimate 2023 and 2024 will require at least £0.5M per year from Mr Beaumont's personal coffers. AB Sundecks makes in the region about £2M a year, but that is obviously not disposal cash for Derek to spend as he pleases, his wife is also a Director of the Company.
Leigh Leopards have increased Turnover in the last two years, with increases in average attendance rising to 7-8K per match. 2024 season has seen a full take-up of club sponsors and increases in merchandising lines. The costs have also risen with a full salary cap, a new (successful) women's team, and a new academy granted.
You can make up your own mind as to how much Mr Derek Beaumont props up the Leigh Leopards, but it is safe to say without him, the club does not exist.

Ok simple question, Leigh Leopards RLFC, what company owns the club? Invariably they use a Private Limited Company (Ltd). Derek John Beaumont is an active Director of two companies AB Sundeck, and Luxlodge. Neither company is engaged in running a Rugby League Club. We know Derek owns the club, but under what vehicle does he manage the club?

| Apologies, I looked at companies registered at Sale Way and came up with "Sporting Club Leigh Limited" It contains a balance sheet and no profit and loss. There are some transactions between Sporting Club Leigh and AB Sundeck, which is how Derek shuffles money between the two companies.
Without a Profit and Loss it is impossible to assess the state of the club, but compared to St Helens they are in a different league.

Looking at the graph, over the last 20 years, I would suggest that the club is entering a new golden age (Age of the Leopard)'"

| Thanks for the link, Sev. Nice to see that Endole know where we really are:
Leigh Sports Village Stadium
Sale Way
Leigh

But their pin on the map shows us to be in London.
Can we believe anything they publish? Does Trump run it?

| Extract from Total Rugby League, "Sporting Club Leigh Limited showed a significant improvement in its balance sheet from a year earlier, with a negative profit and loss account of £1,378,842 turned into a positive total of £786,307, which represents an improvement to the tune of £2,165,149.
The accounts reveal that Leopards owner Derek Beaumont’s company AB Sundecks Limited supplied sponsorship income to the tune of £1,325,000, compared to zero the previous year. At the balance sheet date the club owed £207,529 to AB Sundecks, compared to £743,835 a year earlier."
This is the accountancy shuffle Derek alluded to. Should bring in considerable number of extra points on the IMG scale
