Are we expecting the new coach to be announced this week and is Richard Marshall still the most likely candidate?
If so it seems to be taking a long time to finalise as he left Salford about 5 weeks ago. Fev seemed to get McDermott sorted within a couple of weeks
Or do we think there is another candidate in the running and that is what is causing the delay?

I’m hoping it isn’t Richard Marshall, I’ve nowt against him ,but you only have to listen to the Fax and Salford fans to get an idea , hopefully something will be sorted out soon .

Lam been interviewed?

Media/social media speculating that Lam is in the running.
Some facebook Leythers see it as a negative. I see it as a sign of ambition and long term planning.
Not putting any money on it happening but I would be happy IF it happens

Lam would be a good appointment in my opinion, lots of SL experience. Would be happy with this.

He probably carries some good contacts. Chester with the core built then Lam left with a nice budget.

Nobody on here is saying it will happen but he may be interested in working WITH Chris Chester if the money is right. They are friends.

I have to agree his coaching approach to playing is boring. But in his defence he was coaching a pretty poor Wigan side. Yet in his 3 years he got them close to a Grand final and that was a very average Wigan squad.

A look at Lam’s win percentage in his 3 years at Wigan show him to have the second highest in SL.
His career win percentage at the end of the 2021 season is 63%. Only Christian Wolfe has a higher percentage.

They put 50 on us - and most of who we play wont be as good as us that day

I would have Lam as the new Leigh Head Coach in a heartbeat, yes Wigan were quite boring & yes they also scored less tries than Leigh, but we were absolutely dire in defence & ended with a worse season than 2005 with (on paper) a much better squad.

I will take a bit of boring for a return to Super League

We were champions wen he took over. He made us that bad. Trust me, he isn't a good coach. He does have ability though. When you make players like Hastings look bad you have some talent. Appoint Lam and you won't be back any time soon.

Lam was not the problem at Wigan, it was the decline in the level of squad.

Maybe its time to revisit Paul Rowley to see if he would reconsider?

Whatever we are doing we need to get on with it feels like we have been in limbo for a long time. Other teams building interest with their signings. The championship will be very competitive and with yet another new group they need to get the group together to gel ASAP or we will be behind the 8 ball after a month!
