Is there a storm coming?

Looks like a shake up so at moment we have no sponsors or players for next season

I have said it before and will say it again , I don’t care what League we are in next season , I will still be there at the LSV cheering the lads on ,even the most pessimistic fan wouldn’t have predicted the season unfolding like this , BUT ,Derek is no fool , and I think he will be working very hard to sort things out .

Why the other Directors have packed in .?I’m sure we will find out soon ,the postponement of games at the moment , must be a blessing for us , so we can regroup ,take stock and move forward .I’ve met and spoke with Derek a few times and feel he WONT be doing a Nero ,he will be doing everything he can to sort things out , don’t knock him or the Club till we find out the facts ,hopefully we will find out soon .

Thank you VL, I just feel we as fans must support the Club , whoever is in charge , Derek has made the statement ,to give the fans the info about his plans , we all knew the difficult situation that was facing the Club this season , I’m just happy Derek has stated When the Going Gets Tough , The Tough Get Going , meaning he has no intention of packing in , also it’s good to know funds are available if players become available, and we have signed 2 NRL players already , I’ve never known Derek say things that are not true .

I’m unhappy at the way the season has unfolded , but it has t been Dereks faults , he hurts just as all the fans do , more so because it’s his money .

Life in my world is good at the moment , could be better , but rugby wise I think the Covid and postponements could be a blessing in disguise .

The best take from the statement I have, is the clear way Derek says his intention is to make us a sustainable SL club regardless of this seasons outcome.

I’ve read the statement, which shows commitment for the future. Which is good. I’m not sure how ending back in Championship helps the club to become sustainable. It must be easier to sell sponsorship, corporate, hospitality in SL than Champ.

Also the two NRL players,what contracts are they on? As it stands Leigh have no squad for next season regardless of which league they are in.

Lot of names missing from that statement.

But a few announcements about announcements.

Atomic , I agree with a couple of things you say , ie Dereks commitment to the Club is good, and again we must build a team from scratch next season , but as the squad we’re all on 1 year contracts we knew this anyway , and I agree it is much easier to sell sponsorship in SL than the Championship, though I’m not convinced what division we will be in next season .

Nobody can predict what contracts the NRL players will be on , only Derek knows this , but I’m optimistic bythe statement about new appointments being made , no names could be revealed until it’s already cut and dried.

Myself I’m just happy Derek sees a future for us , and folk want to play for us , again it remains to be seen if Danny Richardson has signed , I’m a fan of his and think it would be a good signing , I’d try to build a team round him , Brierley , Mellor ,hopefully we will keep a couple of the present squad , and move forward .

Derek , good to hear from you , I’m feeling better as well, I’m really hopeful for the Clubs future , I think we as a Club need Derek , and his commitment to the Club , it’s been a difficult season , but a hard year for many , you learn to adapt , as Leigh must .

We don’t know what has gone on behind the scenes causing the other people to leave , but should we be entitled to know .?

. What goes on behind the scenes is their Business. It's been a difficult season but, we must keep positive for the future of the club. We as fans can take our own action in what we want, or believe for Leigh Centurions. Let's see what the rest of the season brings,and where we will be at the end of it. COYL

I admire the attitude and ambition of Derek but I feel that whatever we do for this season will be too little, too late. Can't help but feel that we'd be better served keeping hold of the money that Derek alludes to and put it towards building for next season.

You could be right Leyther , we are not privy to what Dereks plans are for next season , but it seems to me he is making plans for next season , which must be a plus .Yeah some folk are knocking him , that’s up to them , but I think he has the best intentions for our Club , I really think if he walked we wouldn’t be inthe same fortunate position , yeah somebody would take over , there will always be a Leigh Centurions , but maybe not with money to invest ,in players , it’s just a pity there aren’t the players around at the moment .Have faith .

We were never ready for SL , I said it when we were promoted . It was the worst possible way to get promoted , no foundations , no preparation just a decision to put a championship side into SL . I think it would have been far worse with fans allowed in . At this stage we are kicking dogs and fans would lose interest , go back to the championship and build up properly by being the best side that's won on merit . We took the SL money and its become a bit of a poison chalice.
