Leigh to start spending

Leigh Centurions have drawn up a list of potential recruits ahead of the expected appointment of John Duffy as coach, report League Express.

The current joint Scotland coach is in the processing of securing his release from Featherstone in order to join Leigh. League Express have linked the Centurions with moves for Richard Lepori, Toby Adamson, Luke Adamson, Andy Thornley, Iain Thornley, Andy Bracek, Dom Speakman, Jonny Pownall, Tom Spencer, Josh Woods, Sam Brooks, Sean Penkywicz and Martyn Ridyard.

Riddy told Derek to stick the offer.

He still has one year left on his contract at Fev.

How valid is that contract though? He, along with other Fev players have been reportedly 'awarded' a pay cut. Also, only 13 at the start of training last week!

No not yet few of them are waiting on a revised offer from leigh so more from the list might sign

Only! What contracts are being offered/have been offered from other PT clubs? Given there's no additional funding anymore.

Not really , what if they dont have a good job ir a job at all .. unless derek gives em one

Then they go and find one , if they aren't fully proffessional it's because they aren't good enough to get a full time contract at a full time club

It's not rocket science is it, plenty of jobs out there, and not a bad little top up for a couple of nights training and a run out on a Sunday afternoon

I'm sorry but because the're part time it doesn't mean they only train twice and play on a weekend,I'm pretty sure they'll train nearly every night and do the captain's run on a sat then play on a Sunday so sometimes it takes a bit more commitment being part time than it does being full time

Indeed , the implications to relationships and family life are many when playing part time , but ultimately it's down to available money

Which is why I believe that the focus of Leigh Centurions should not be on trying to produce elite RL players , unless you are an ' elite ' club , you don't need them

To become an elite club is essentially down to finances , and primarily Leigh Centurions will only ever be a sustainable elite club if they can increase their support base to elite club levels , that should be the focus , possibly even before the club player roster

There was a hint of sarcasm in my comments to be honest, ATEOTD it's their choice. As I see it there are about 15 full time clubs, the rest are part time and it's up to the PT players to do what's best for them - doubt many PT clubs will be offering more that has been suggested above

A pre season 'testimonial' game could on the cards for one returning player.

Against Featherstone, perhaps?!

Thank You Col,I have spent a few weeks down south away from the forum.

Upon quickly catching up, I must say Montyburns appears to have heard the same names as I for next year.

Another player with us for next year will be young Dan Abram, son of ex Leigh coach Darren.

However we have tried and I think ultimately failed to secure young Josh Woods off Wigan on a season long loan.

Disappointing as the lad is not only a huge Leigh fan but a great talent.
