That was a late change as was playoffs last time I looked.6 pointless games for Fev and Leigh then, only one that matters is when they play each other.

As I’ve said before with the 8s setup, the middle works the other two not so much. Thankfully we are in a contest that will build some interest, at least for the first 4 games, results dependent.
The only good thing here is that even though it’s going to be a Leigh Fev final you still need to turn up each week to try and ensure you get the home advantage.

Being at home is a meaningless advantage in a meaningless competition!

Its quite meaningful to try and preserve what happened at the LSV on Sunday.

Is it, Atomic? Is there any monetary gain with winning this comp?
As I said in a previous post, barring a wealthy man replacing Mr Beaumont not many of those player's being as they are Full Time rugby league players will most likely be running around the LSV for a Part Time club next season, would it not be better to offload as many as they can possibly do so, stating now, for no fee just to get them off the wage bill?
It may be harsh to do so, but it would be common sense to do it.

Harry, I understand about full time players being reluctant to go part-time.

However, we have contractual obligations to these guys. Even if they are on a 12 month contract, (and I believe most of them will have longer term deals) we will be committed to honouring those contracts, financially. Far better for the players to leave, by finding a new club for themselves - and now that the 'transfer window' has closed, that isn't going to happen until well into the off season.

Also, we will have a commitment to the RFL, to honour our remaining fixtures. To do that, we need a squad, and we can no longer sign anyone, because of that closed 'transfer window'.

Like it, or not, we are now stuck with what we've got, and I believe the owner said he would honour his obligations, until the end of this season.

Fair comment Alan, a thought accured to me in that there is another injustice in the signing of players and contracts.
We have done no different to any SL club in signing players to be the best we can to play in SL, their is no question the Leigh club signed players to acheive SL status, we failed and are left with these players on contract, a SL club fails in the 8's and those contracts are null and void and can be ripped up, another point the RFL have possibly overlooked.

They can only rip contracts up based on P&R, both are seperate comps. You can’t blame the RFL for the mismanagement of a club.
They had the money,the players and the fan base (still do).

Surely full time contracts last 12 mths not just a season

I guess if we go into Administration, or Liquidation (perish the thought with either of those options) then all contracts will be null and void?

I just don’t understand why some players were apparently blocked from leaving at the eleventh hour - to what end? If we cannot afford to keep them next season why do we want to pay their salaries for 8 meaningless games? If it’s because new investors are known to be coming in then why let anybody go? We are half-pregnant at the minute. Best players gone but what’s left is still too expensive!

On the RFL Championship league structure page it's been shown as 1st v 2nd all season. Someone messed up last week updating stuff in readiness for the fixtures release. I'd wager they just copied the stuff that was posted last season...
