| How many player's do you reckon we will be holding onto for next season?
Whatever - barring someone with more spare walking about money than Mr Beaumont coming in - we will be a part time team, no longer will we be employing full time professionals.
Yesterdays team contained 100% full time players, barring any of them not continuing their full time carear simply because no full time team will want them we have a slim chance of keeping anyone who may be local, those who will have to travel say from over the pennines will find it difficult to both find employment and come to training at an evening, so they may as well find a club nearer home.
If Mr B, wants to call in his loan notes, someone said the club owed him both personally and to his company circa £1.9M then the only course is administration or ultimatley liquidation, either way we would be defaulting the RFL laws and most likely be starting next season in Championship 1, and if SL get their way and withold any monies awarded below SL after 2021 will we ever get out.
Dark days ahead, but lets see what Mr B says in the statement he promised to issue early this week.

I for one don't want Gareth Hock back!
Only joking, Riddy would be good back at home,
I would also like John Davies, for mine one of the best players outside of SL, multi talented can play in the halfbacks, second row, loose forward hooker and hard as nails to boot.

| Would still like to see Ridyard & McNally back. I would think the reasons they departed, would all be gone, by next season.

| Joe Bullock signed for Wigan that's two part time championship players of a decent standard picked up by SL side already, the pool of talent is smaller than ever.

Well, he did start his career in Wigan Academy - as a winger! Perhaps they didn't spot the potential of 'one of their own', as a prop!

That’s my point Alan! Wonder how many more have been skipped, but didn’t continue with the game.
There’ll always be late developers in the game and the majority will reside with the lower tiers.

look at Leighs Academy Successes Rowley, Higham Baldwin etc they were exceptions who went from nothing to first team to SL.
Look at Superleague Academy "Failures" Bullock for example rejected by Wigan play in lower league back to SL with Wigan!
Kids need reserve rugby in my opinion not Academy from a certain age as its only in the real semi pro open age environment that you make it.

I totally agree with this. Having a Leigh academy team like we did winning 116-0 against South Wales with 12 men or one or no subs , does nothing for developing youngsters. In fact as a club you have a duty of care not to hinder a promising youngster's career by forcing them to learn and play in that environment.

| Our 19s have got a lot out of our reserves games. You need a transition from 19s to open age. For forwards especially it's much harder in the championship (arguably more physical than SL).

I'd get rid of the academy's and just go to A teams because from 13 to 17 the pro clubs are taking lads and taking the fun out of the game for young lads.I think it's one of the reasons lads that get fired off at 18 pack the game in because they've fell out of love with the game and if they can't make a living out of it they say to it,also the coaching is much better for kids from 13 to 17 these days at their community clubs so why can't these pro clubs wait till till a lad is 16 to 17 before signing them and if lads don't get picked up they stay with their amature clubs
