It is new, so you have to see how it goes. But 3rd season in and I don't think it works, and also isn't really fair.
The RFL should at least stick to the league format of deciding the qualifiers to stay up or go up, instead of the nonsense of MPG playoff. Top 4 SL, bottom 4 championship.

My preference would be bottom of SL play top of Championship in 2 legged playoff. Or at least one off game at neutral ground.

Also if Cats beat Widnes I just can't see how we will beat Widnes.

yes it will because if Widnes lose that many points will guarantee we finish above them

Well, if Widnes lost by 15 and we won by 15, we'd have them at home.

A more realistic option would be for Widnes and us just to win. Then it would be Cats at home, and I'd rather that was the scenario.

Utter bollox, it gives ALL 4 championship sides hope, the team finishing 5th still have an interest, and the media have REALLY got behind it in the last 3 years!

Like the NRL. Whereby they can focus their efforts at the on-field product, as opposed to working from a scarcity mindset of what may happen at the end of the year -- in one game. Nah, couldn't possibly work. Tony Smith may have a point though.

I think I must be in minority about the league splitting up for qualifiers and super 8's.

I just think its overly complicated. Plus having fought our way to SL we are now in a half way house league of being outside SL.

I think it would be fairer to say everyone preferred the system to a closed shop system.
I personally would prefer a 14 team SL, with promotion, demotion decided by a home and away playoff game between the top champ team and the bottom SL team.
I would also like to see the top 8 SL teams go into a straight knockout comp at the end of the season to decide a Grand Final champ.

If Catalan go down all the system will change to suit the Frenchmen

people gave Jamie Peacock loads of grief last year when he slated the current format.

Like it as it is, means a lot of the results in matches matter late in the season
