The right decision. We have to take sentiment out of it. He's been a legend for us in the two seasons he's been here but SL requires props who can do big stints. Unfortunately Fui can't do it. Thanks for the memories Fui Fui.

I think everyone knew it was coming, just a shame he didn't get much of a send-off being so popular but then again, as with all the others who left having played a big part right till the end, as they are continuing to play and it was Rene that was retiring, a respectful thing not to take the spotlight off him.

Running passed up the steps, giving me and others high-fives to celebrate his first try is still one of the best memories I have, including those wondering it odd that the stewards didn't tell him to get off the yellow lines.

Who would ever have thought that little ol' Leigh could attract a player like Fui? And his running up that terrace after scoring his first try will go down in Leigh folklore. I wish him all the very best for his future. Thanks Fui.

Signing Fui was the 1st really big statement of intent that this club meant business and was going somewhere. A crucial moment in Leigh's journey to Super League.

Without Fui I doubt we could have attracted the likes of Maitua, Paterson and Weston to the club and probably wouldn't have made it in to the top flight.

He has been a joy to watch, a true legend of the game.

I'd like to add my huge vote of thanks to Fui, for all that he has done for our club, both on and off the pitch. I still remember him from the Tonga v Cook Islands World Cup game at LSV, and thinking it was beyond my wildest dreams to see him play there again. Well, as they say, "the rest is history." Thanks for the memories Fui, and good luck with whatever you do next!





As an aside, I presume Gary Pollitt is going to have a lot of spare time on his hands, now he hasn't got Fui's hairdo to play with each week!

I agree that the signing of Fui was the real turning point for the club. What a buzz he created in the town and worth every penny in hindsight. I'd suggest a bronze statue to go alongside John Woods, but it would cost us 20 grand just for his hairdo!

It was Fui's signing that put us on the road to SL as it was the first signal of intent.

More importantly was it put us on the map in Australia , and has made it possible to sign further quality players , to the point we had one of the best players in the world actually considering joining us in Jarryd Haine

Fui was never going to go a season in SL. He's been struggling this season since his illness. He has never given us less than 100% though. I have lucky enough to see some great and hard props at Leigh, but none more entertaining. Good luck to him with whatever he does next and thanks for some great memories.
