I've been saying since he left how much we miss Andy Mazey,and as for Trevor B again he had so much input to the Club, I have been privileged to call them BOTH friends and would do anything to get them back on board at Leigh Centurions.

Any idea why that passion doesn't translate into attendances at the ground. I remember Keighley in the days of Cougar mania and they seemed to get more paying customers as they vied for the top division .....then they got shafted by RFL and it all went bad.

Attendances this season, have been double what they were the season before last. Surely, that's moving in the right direction? Obviously yours have been higher than ours, given that you were coming off the back of several seasons in SL.

The trick for us is to at least maintain the current level of crowd support and build on it next season. That might be somewhat difficult, given the torture of the Qualifiers.

10 years ago the Bulls were winning SL, how the mighty have fallen when they are doing the conga after beating "little old" Leigh for the first time this year after 3 matches played!!

Well said Alan, I also believe that in the current circumstances that DB is prepared to better the Leigh Centurions next season to achieve our goal of SL.Anyone who fails to see this is being naive. Our attendances will get even better next season, that's for sure. It's quite simple really, we either get behind DB and the team or we don't. But I think If DB is putting His money were His mouth is, then we should Get behind it.

Hopefully some people within the club will have learned a little bit of humility going into the new season and that goes to the three or four fans on here who have been nothing short of embarrassing with their posts on here and on other boards.

As iggy said we have brought all these other fans on here giving us stick after 2 or 3 of our posters were on other boards giving it large every week! I was always confident we would go up but never cocky or arrogant! As for going forward let's keep the spine of the team! Ridyard McNally higham hock! If we can let's add some real quality in the pack! I'd be looking at Calahane from fax! We have Weston coming already! Don't think Acton spencer aspinwall can cut it so we are still short of a prop! We need to cut down the size of the squad too! Don't think Reynolds is good enough either but stick with him 1 more year!

First up what a season.
We have played the best RL I have ever seen whilst watching Leigh and literally every game has provided some entertainment with only Salford in the league a 'gonna' with 15mins to go.
Some of the RL played has been top draw and our fans will remember this season for a very long time.
However we fell short and to learn and improve from that I feel the club needs to act now and use the head start to looking for the future and improvement.

There is nothing PR has done that I would have done differently, the tag every minutes matters has actually applied to every Leigh game with perhaps the exception of the very last one away at Widnes.
Hindsight is irrelevant abut it can also help us learn and for me some key lessons can be taken from this season and applied to next years campaign.

THE 8'S :
Not a club issue but the RFL need to look at the transfer deadline day (needs moving forward), the whole live package (if you turn up at a game and you can't see what the video ref is looking at it takes away from the live action and attracts you more to stay at home - live screens at all games is what SKY should be told to do), the fixtures (I've no idea how it worked but no-one should get 3 SL teams on the spin and the lowest placed teams in SL and the Championship should be away from home for the final fixtures, a better structure needs looking at to get those fixtures evenly balanced with priority to Top 2 in the Championship and 8th / 9th in SL), TV Money (this cannot be divided by the SL clubs at the start of the season anymore as the TV games will always involve Championship clubs now).

OFF FIELD :
We need a press officer who manages every contact from the club to the press, in business you hear talk about not giving 1 and 2% advantages to your competitor and I think sometimes our comments (maybe misquoted) handed some easy motivational chatter in the dressing room to the opposition giving an extra 1 or 2% incentive - that has to stop with immediate effect otherwise it will cost us, at the very least it pumps up the opposition fans who then sing twice as loud which gives the team they follow that extra shove when they are out on there feet.
I like passionate people and often complain about the blandness of the UK and its 'you can't say that' culture, DB is a very passionate bloke and you do get what you read on the tin,.
I can't think of any other clubs Board members who are happy to hand around trophies to the fans within 10mins of the club winning them but that's what DB does and he's a fantastic person, his enthusiasm and passion though needs to be kept to board rooms - you don't want to stunt it as it can be infectious but equally any interview done needs to be kept now down to a very minimum with interviews from Leigh Centurions left solely to the players and Coach.
In terms of those interviews again I'd apply strict protocol as if what players, coaches or Leigh officials say help the opposition then it needs curtailing, there's one thing to be open and honest but if it helps your downfall it becomes self inflicting - maybe the quotes to the press come through a designated press official with PR just conducting pre and post match interviews, Lets not forget this season has seen Leigh covered more than at any other time in the clubs history so in terms of media everyone at the club is new to it and had to learn as they go along - lets learn though now and be a bit more 'in house'

THE SQUAD :
If you look at our key players in key positions a lot have looked busted and to be honest there hasn't been a break in the week to week since February so no doubt we have some very tired bodies after a real tough season with 7 games v long term SL teams thrown in amongst the usual tough Championship games.
For me we have simply ran out of steam in the last 15 minutes of games at the business end, if you look at the player of the season in Gaskell you may argue that the voting for this years Championship player of the season is similar to what you see in the Eurovision song contest but you would miss a valid point, Gaskell has missed a lot of games (from no fault of his own) so he has had more rest but equally Bradford have been forced to use the squad players far more than Leigh which has given the squad players more experience and also the team less reliance on the 'main man'.
Leigh have mainly gone for the same line up week in week out which aside from tiring the keys players out (maybe not physically but mentally)but it also means they pretty much know they are guaranteed a spot so haven't sat in the stand thinking to themselves 'blimey my replacement has played a blinder I better but an extra 2% in next time I play', equally as the injuries have arrived in the 8's we have struggled to cope whilst in the season we may have risked a game but the long term benefit could be a fresher team at the business end of the season with squad players also knowing they might get a game rather than constantly playing in the reserves or on loan.
Pre season training needs to be key with fixtures selected of relevance rather than money spinning as get pre season better and it may help come the end of the season ,you frequently hear successful sports teams stating pre season helped them get over the line - we need to speak to other sports clubs who have been successful of that and adopt it.
In terms of signings we need a proper future and signing older players works if you have inexperienced players who are hungry and have that youthful care free attitude working and learning alongside them, whilst rumours of big name signings keep fans happy we need a long term plan in place to ensure the production line of local talent doesn't get fed up and sign elsewhere - we need to have a clear line with amateur player to professional at Leigh that involves a player being able to get on the field and play for the first team and views it as 'in his hands' and a realistic option.
Moimoi worked as off the field as well as on it it sent a key message out, Hock was a gamble and with Barlow missing huge parts of the big game proved important, Higham was to give us a push for the 8's and for me now needs to be brought in and more involved off field as his playing hours reduce next year.

Next year will be just as tough as Sheffield will go fulltime and Halifax should have a bigger player production line to name just two advantages of the 8's after one season, we need to learn and adapt to add to what has been a really enjoyable season this year to make next years even better.
