Shandy Bass is just a fool. An absolute pr!ck. Don't know how anyone can refer to him as a leigh fan, because he certainly is not. He never goes to games. And on the rare occasions he does, its just to lap up a bit of attention.

I saw a few more people there yesterday that haven't been for a bit but what I did notice was the songs are getting louder. It must sound amazing from the north stand.

He's not missed many games this year and I would say he IS a Leigh fan (he knows the names and faces of most players, even the academy) and knows the clubs history.
OK he's a mytherer, and if you want to be nasty then yes you can say he's a fool and a village idiot BUT he's a harmless bloke who through fate is who he is.

ps I know a great many Fools, pricks and village idiots who are these things through CHOICE, Shandy never had that privilege

Well said Happy Hooker I totally agree there some people are daft by choice & some people are the way they are through no choice of their own. Personally Shandy's a welcome supporter although I agree I don't understand why he's talked about as much on here.

Shandy is not a Bad Bloke , im not a fan of his ,and agree he is far from being an ardent fan , but he has been to the last few home games , I agree I to have seen a few old faces returning to the LSV in recent games , and think they should all be welcomed back .

The North Stand looked to have many more fans in Yesterday , and was at times very loud and colourful , im sure the Team appreciate this , I always try to encourage lapsed fans to return , its a good time to be a Leigh Fan .

Getting back to Shandy , the lad is Harmless , I have no malice towards him .

Mr Bass may not have been dealt the greatest hand in life, but he has managed to hold down a job, earn a wage and pay tax for the past 20 or so years. I will give him that.

He therefore gains an awful lot more respect from me than all them spongers I see sat and idle on the town hall square all day or sat in the bookies pumping their state hand outs into a gambler.

Shandy is portrayed by the local media as Leighs number one superfan, everyone within a five mile radius of town knows him!

A while ago, in the Hilton Arms Quiz, the picture round was "ten famous Leythers", and Shandy was the only one EVERY team got right!




We played a prank circa 2010, when a letter was posted in Blackburn with no street or road on it, just simply addressed to "SHANDY BASS, Leigh!".........and he got it, went to the press with it, and the Wigan Evening Post made him out to be one of the boroughs most famous people because of it!

Good response, and well put,lets be honest if he is perceived as a glory hunter he is one of many at Leigh over the years.
