He had a liking for blind alleys today. Other than the 40-20 not much else.

To lose a game when you score 3 tries to 1 is unforgivable and probably very very rare.

Hope we have signed some backs and not just forwards. I also hope there are some coaching courses available from the RFL to help our coach learn a Plan B.

Despite the try tally, the best team won. Too many unforced errors and daft penalties. Again.

Why bother signing the best hooker outside SL if you arent going to play him until it is too late?

Also no 1 rule of knock out RL, if you get the chance to take the lead, take it, after drawing level 25 yards out from the sticks with 10 minutes on the clock and 3 PTBs it would have been simple to set up a Drop Goal, instead we go wide and throw the ball into touch

In all honesty without Ridyard you are rudderless.....your other half back was anonymous again and in all honesty he should be playing at full back as he would be far more dangerous there than Mcscally is.....playing with one half back is pretty predictable even though Batley really didn't close ridyard down which was all they had to do......

Very poor from Leigh was Ryan B injured he was never in the game our forwards where second best and we looked totally clueless throughout most of the game even so we should have won that game in the last 10 mins but Batley where bigger stronger faster from 1...17 Won't get people back watching Leigh playing like that it was dire mindbending slow rugby at its worst hope to god we have signed another couple of players for the back line ..Ah well back to fishing matches on Sunday lot more fun will wait to see who the club are bringing infor next season before I buy a season ticket ect

Just in and on first viewing some 50/50's seemed to be well coached / won by Batley.
Having said that one team wanted it more and that was Batley - We could (and should) have still won the game as we had more than enough opportunities but instead we proved we cannot handle play off RL.
Rowley himself needs to take things from these games and learn as for me Kear outcoached him with a team that didn't have as much to offer (with all due respect to a hard working fully committed Batley team).

The off season needs to see the club looked at properly on & off field for us to move forward we need to know why we underachieve (is 4th place acceptable and if so are our current ambitions of SL too optimistic considering how far we have to come to catch up with the others in this league).

A few queries though from today for those that had the advantage of TV.......
- 1st Batley try : was it offside or not as 1st looking seemed to show the winger in front.
- The Leigh try disallowed for obstruction , was it as for me it looked like either player could have been penalised for taking each other out !

Judging by our signings, announced and rumoured, its gonna be just as slow next season.

All very true Col but we need some pace to take advantage of that. Unless we have kept a wizard half back signing secret I see no sign of any pace.

we need a scrum half,ryan hardly touched the ball today,to keep penky on the bench for so long was a joke.the number of people who were saying the coach has no plays set and has a forward only mentality might have it right.they looked disinterested and clueless and unfit.our right side needs to retire and ridyard wants to learn how to kep a move going,we will be lucky to get a thousand on next season after that debacle

Thought you lost it in the pack today. The conditions probably favoured Batley in that Leigh have a few players carrying some pounds and Batley were able to get off the mark quickly and hammer in to them given that there was little chance to pass the ball because of the conditions.

Wilkes should be a good signing for you and Barlow could be to some extent if he does play but I still feel your pack will not be as strong as Sheffield, Fev and Fax`s but there will obviously be more signings from all those teams although I expect Fax`s pack to keep pretty much the same and would take our pack over any in the league(hooker apart) we just need some half backs.

End of the day though I guess Leigh`s season is a bit like ours last season in that the fans were moaning like mad come the end of the season but there are two trophies at stake in this league and you won one of them. You will have done one better than all but 1 of Sheffield/Fax/Fev(Batley wont trouble Fev).

Players kept getting in front of Riddy when he had the ball. Kes seemed to me to be on one leg following a knock in the first half.

When at the end of the game our lads went into their usual huddle two of them seemed to be arguing with each other why I wonder ?

Fev v Batley I honestly think it will be very one sided however on the plus side us diehards will save a few bob next week.

Just seen the Leigh result, commiserations to Leigh.

Would have liked to see you win it but not a bad season with the added bonus of some silverware.

In the end, some of our rookies are still too raw - tho I bet they've learned a lot. More worrying, some of the old brigade are looking OTT. Must remember that today conditions were fow and game ran for over 80 mins. I reckon the only players we have who are genuine Championship Leader's class are McNally, Riddy, Penky and Tommy G. Hope recruitment for next season goes well. Look forward to your posts to keep me going till 2014

Do we still decide which way we are going to play before kick off (used to be a toss of the coin on the pitch in't owd days) ?
Noticing the severe wind and rain battering it down from the South (which our players battled against for 40mins, in the second half the storm subsided significantly !) was wondering if we won the toss (if indeed it still happens) if we'd have been better playing towards our fans in the North stand in the first half and using the elements to our advantage ?

The toss is done 30mins before ko in the tunnel
