For want of stealing any potential thunder and knowing that irons are already in the fire, who would be the your sure fire players from this team that you would want to be contracting up in the long term??

With the anouncement of a 12 team super League whichever structure the RFL adopt from 2015 must surely give Leigh the best opportunity since franchising came about. Halifax for example are announcing long term extensions to their perceived pivotal players with no Super League clauses, other teams seem to be making transfer/extension noises.

We dont want to go down a finacial disaster road again but i would love to see some long term contracts being announced from my own team, preferably the week leading upto the NRC final, putting out a strong commited message to fans/sponsors and other teams would be such a great buzz on top what is already seeming to be the crest of a wave.

A few key ones for me would be, Ridyard, Brierley, Mcnally, Beswick, Nicho, Wardy, Spencer (if poss) Goulden, Ostick, Parker & Finnegan,now i know i have missed a few but his would give a full spine, 2 wide running second rowers and 2 starting props to build a team around, what do people think and who would be genuine possibilities to add to make a very strong team for 2014???

I'd look at getting McNally, Pownall, Ridyard, Brierley, Briscoe and Nicholson and Bate signed up.

Maden, Littler, Beswick, Parker, Finnigan, Goulden, Aspinwall, Penky I'd hope will all see out their careers at Leigh. But how many will be left at the end of 2014 and 2015?

A squad with the names above will compete highly in the Championship for the next couple of years.

Others not named can be replaced and improved upon IMO.

Crap thread with poor timing, some of the names already omitted as not required are still pulling their tripe out for the club.

Well whatever you may think about this thread Reffy I am going to put in my 4penneth.

Duffy is a player to watch. I first saw him play for Barrow in a Championship 1 Final.


Early in the season I thought his defence was poor. Better now' but still room for improvement. But he is young talented and will be a force in a couple of seasons.

Not mentioning Kes there's no need.

what a load of rubbish, most players/agents are already looking at next season now. When we lose our best players due to "poor timing" please resurect this public forum thread when you are slating the lack of ambition shown by the business.........sorry Professional Rugby League Club!!!

We've managed to retain many of our key players and PR and our Football Directors have identified players who they would like to bring in to strengthen the squad.

Rest assured we won't be behind the eight ball this year.

Budgets will be dictated by fan interest though so the remaining games and season tickets will determine quality of signings and depth of squad.

Barlow is meant to be coming to you guys after he finishes the season with Fev. Think he is under contract with Fax for next season though so the rumor is the clubs trying to iron out a mutually agreeable deal likely involving a couple of your key players who are looking elsewhere. Smart bit of business by Fax if it comes off especially if it is the two players whos names are doing the rounds.

I think Barlow will be at Fev next season according to what I heard from a very big Fev fan last night.

heaven forbid anyone put a comment on your new fans forum reffy.com, if you had read the OP correctly whereby i state there will be irons in the fire already (as i watch LCTV) i was actually looking to discuss any potential targets for next year in an open forum and which players we would like AS FANS to tie down long term as a nucleus to a sucessful team.

Course it is but next season is critical with P & R being brought back in 2015. (6 years late imo).

Done deal at Leigh by the sounds of it for the next two years, its just a case of whether he can agree terms with Fev for the rest of this season or get the deal done to move to Leigh straight away. Obviously hes under contract at Fax for next season and Leigh probably arnt in a position to offer a transfer fee but Fax were interested in a couple of Leigh players, one in particular who wants a change of scenery, so its really just a case of coming to an amicable agreement.

Well I have heard a bit more from a mate of mine but re the player you think Fev are interested in I think we all know he used to play for Fax.

We will have to wait and see I think.

For myself I think all our players are happy at Leigh.
