Well said that man ,he has highlighted all the cons of this ludicrous idea and not one pro and thats because there isn't any .The SL clubs who did vote for it should hang their heads in shame for what they have done to this wonderful game !!!!!!!!

Does beg the question though should the owners of the clubs be responsible for making decisions that have a huge affect on the potential of the game further down the line.

Yes great piece and i applaud Phil for saying it publicly. I read a piece in this weeks League Express where Ralph Rimmer (i think) states that this DC idea had been discussed since Autumn last year with all Championship clubs and the majority of Championship clubs voted for it ( much like NRC & GF moving from Blackpool & Warrington).

The RFL occasionally has a curious interpretation of what constitutes a 'vote'. It rather sounds like the SL clubs had their vote, over-ruling the RFL recommendations, and the Championship clubs' opinion doesn't count for anything, never mind a 'vote'.

I dont know about championship clubs not having a vote on this,but one thing is for sure, when the sl clubs spoke to the championship clubs about this, a large percentage of clubs jumped at the chance to link up.

The way i see it,,none of this could have happened without the agreement of the championship club.

Can't see that they had the agreement of all Championship clubs - IF there was a vote.

Reading the links that iv'e seen so far,the championship clubs haven't voted on this,or have they?.
They were approached by sl clubs after the sl clubs turned down the rfls proposals, and they've jumped in bed with the sl clubs.
We would not be having this conversation now if the championship clubs had said no,its as simple as that.

That decision was then to be taken to the Championship Clubs meeting for discussion , but apparently some SL and Championship clubs had already discussed and agreed to ' partnerships ' before that meeting occured

Sounds to me like it wasn't actually put to a formal vote , more a case of the SL clubs decided what was going to happen , and well , what SL wants , SL gets

I don't see sl being relevant in this,the championship clubs did not need to go along with this,they've chosen to,no one has forced them to.

But when the RFL have created a ' Death League ' with their ridiculous expansion plans , they have instilled such a fear into the majority of the Championship , the clubs would happily sell their souls to the Devil to avoid it

Sorry jc but imo that is rubbish. The rfl suggested they should have U23s at sl level. The sl clubs ignored the recommendations in favour of saving money. They then lured in the weak champ chairmen. Incidentally at least two Sl clubs were against it and they would be the two who have abused it the most, as though they are proving the lunacy of it.

Well i hope 4 of them get chucked out and the championship goes back to 10 clubs for 2014,then a licencing process is introduced.

I would think that many of the Championship clubs jumped at the opportunity to use someone else's players and not pay contract money. For me, the issue is whether the Championship clubs actually voted on this.

There are at least 5 clubs that can reveal that information any time they want.

Phil wrote two very similar articles back in the summer when the idea was first mooted and he was largely ignored.

For me the blame lies with SL clubs like Hull FC who wanted to save money so they could in theory afford buy instant success (they originally planned to merge their academy with Rovers) but also with the Championship clubs who were so quick to jump in bed with their SL counterparts. It is very easy to blame SL for all and sundry but the Championship has to take some of the criticism.

I can appreciate how difficult it is to run a club like Swinton, and how tempting the chance to save money must be however if it had been thought about properly and people like Phil were not ignored this whole sorry situation could have been avoided. I have heard whispers that the way we at Warrington have carried on has been a deliberate attempt at sabotaging the system, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months.

The way Warrington have registered all their players with Swinton for DCs seems to suggest this and hope you are right .The fact that the system can/is being abused will hopefully see it get the elbow for next season !

I hope its fired off asap as well,unfortunately with the rfl still pestering the UKBA to allow overseas players to play in the championship as well as sl ,then i think it will only get stopped if the championship clubs do it themselves.
