Now I'm not knocking Rowley, because I think he worked wonders last season. But just as last season, why is he not giving Brierly the game time??
He's not a fans favourite for nothing. The guy is class and a proven game changer. Now if he wants use him as an impact player, then fair enough... but at least use him and let him make an impact. like saints used to do with roby, he would do 15 mins in first half, then last half hour. Surely he would have been 100% miles better option than beswick!
Beswick is not a half back. he's 13 or 9 in my opinion.
But giving Ryan 10-15 minutes at end of a game isn't enough. he can't Work miracles. And when we were 22-0 down at half time, wot did he have to lose?
Just seems to me that Paul doesn't like Ryan or feel the same. So in my view, why waste 2 years salary on a player you aren't gonna play??

Brierley does well when he comes on behind a pack that is on top and gives him the gaps and breaks that he thrives on. Today just wasn't that game for him, but then that always seems to be the case at Fev. Might be worth a look at McNally at half back though as mentioned elsewhere which might allow Brierley more game time at full back.

Bit on the harsh side but PR does not dislike any of our players imo.

We lost today because Fev were a lot better than we where and I seriously doubt Ryan (Kes) coming on earlier would have made much difference.

Their backs outplayed us. Their half backs outplayed us and their forwards outplayed us.

We would have won but for that bloody goggled eyed Frenchie with the whistle.

Yeah I'm not disputing that frank by any means. fev today played us off the park in every aspect. nothing could have changed that result. they out enthused us and out muscled us in the rough stuff. we showed no what so ever.
and maybe that's one aspect Matt. but at the end of last season, against sheff in playoffs, Brierly was left and left. when he came on he made a massive impact. in my opinion if he would have came on earlier, we would have won that game and got to the grand final. just my personal opinion of course

As I said on the trip up to Featherstone, if team selection was down to me then Ryan Brierley would have played all the game at full back today and our half backs would have been Martyn Ridyard and Gregg McNally.

Obviously this is why I am not a Rugby League Head coach.

Think Brierley came on just as we were getting on top of Sheffield in the play offs? Correct me if I'm wrong anyway.

Plenty of time to rethink combinations if necessary. With the extra league games, I don't think losing today is quite the disaster it may have been in previous years.

Re the Sheffield game i beleive we would have gone on to win the game had Brierley had more game time, we left him on the bench too long that day and it was a waste of a sub to have someone and not use them till fifteen minutes to go

I would just like to say my bit on this and it is that a good side step or a bit of pace does not make a good half back.

31 tries with hardly any game time hand in making quite a few tries for others constant threat real pace
That in my eyes is a ruddy good half back who should be on the field right from the kick off

I must admit I'd like to see him get more game time.
He's a threat that has the ability to unsettle opposing teams even if he's doing nothing as he's a distraction who could score a try at any time.

Well i would rather go with Ryan than someone with NO pace at all, NEVER takes the line on, and throws out lazy passes when under pressure!!

I'd would have liked to have seen Ryan given a chance at scrum half on Sunday.

If you think back to Steve Simms giving Paul Rowley his chance to shine at what age 17?

On the flip side, when we still got batterd then the on slaught of Brieleys a full back, not a scrum half threads would have begun.

He also gave Scott Martin and Sid Baldwin a chance that year.

Brierley is a 1, not a 7 but he could get away with a 6 at a push with a ball playing 13 and a game controlling 7.

Pace and step puts the fear of god in defences, look at when Tomkins gets his hands on the ball.

Well Mo he's got a number 7 on his shirt so Rowls must see him has a 7 anyway we have two great fullbacks in Mac and Johnny Pownall

I agree with you but when we went 12.0 down on sunday it was obvious fev were well on top and something should have been changed then,and in a lot of fans opinions, brierley is the only one who had any chance of doing that.

Thats what nearly everyone who watches the Centurions cant understand Why bring on our best attacking option when the games out of reach Briel should in my opinion been brought on Sunday after 25 mins when things had started to go rapidly downhill
Another thing i cant get my head around is our forwards struggled to bring down there pack esp the two props several times we had three or four lads struggling like hell to get them down they where a real handful...
The easiest way to tackle big guys is one locking the legs another one up top knocking over and covering the ball
It happened a couple of times when one of the Leigh forwards went low and they went down like a sack o spuds but still we continued to wrestle with the Fev pack and got knowhere ,strange technique we employ it knackered our lads up all that messing about with 3 / 4 trying to put them down

I dont agree Keith the lads got bags of talent and should be starting or at least given 20 mins each half its crazy keeping a talent like that locked away Riddy and McNally thrive off the lad when hes on he unlocks defences for other players and has for targeting him how come all the young players seem to get time in SL these days its a learning curve for them its and im sure Brie knows how to look after himself hes not a kid anymore
Play him Paul like you where given the chance at a young age stop messing around he excites the crowd when hes on and a threat to all defences..

Your right about the two teams tackling techniques.Fevs is bang on,they get you down asap and try and get you on your back, then they have a little niggle to slow it down a bit more.I fully expect rhino to be blowing his top a couple of times this season the same as last.Good luck to him i say.
