before last nights' game does anyone remember the last time Leigh RL was involved in an abandoned game?

A game at Oldham many years ago was abandoned due to a brawl. Made the national news.

It was and we were winning quite easily.

The game was replayed and we lost.

I remember a game at HP against Leeds that was abandoned at half-time due to fog. Late 70's early 80's. I was also at the O;dham game mentioned above

Hull KR - fog. And floodlights failed ......... Allegedly

A home game against Swinton as well, ironically. The floodlights packed in, but someone got them going again and we lost!

Did Hunslet away last season go the full 80 minutes? The rain that day was crazy! Every one huddled at the back of the stand watching the players run/swim/slide towards the tryline

Yeah incredibly the Hunslet game lasted the full 80. Was mad as owt when the monsoon hit Leeds city centre, and then took 2 hours to reach Hunslet!

Can't remember the fog but remember the farce when the floodlights got turned off....errrm failed

Yes it was a little foggy on that night in HKR and when pulling away from the place on the team bus some 1 hr after the game was abandoned the floodlights seem to be on OK - Funny that ehh

Yeah, the Hull KR away trip was quite an early memory for me. Must of been around 10 or 11 years old. Was the ref stu cummins that day? Endearing himself to the Leigh fans even more. I remember it was a Friday night or something, as my Dad took me to the game straight after he finished work. For the game to be abandoned after 60 mins when we were winning (conveniently) and then the lights come on again before we even got to the car park was a farce for the travelling fans. I remember watching a few fierce arguments at the reception, demanding refunds. Very disappointing.



Luckily the game on Sunday was nothing near the same scenario as that day.

remember the oldham one.think we were winning something like 19-2.they brought a lad on in the pack.first scrum he throws a punch and bang mayhem.the ref jw mean i think his name was just kept blowing his whistle then just started walking off.both sets of players couldnt believe he had walked.the leeds game we were losing.i actually run on too the field to see if i could see any players from the railway end.i saw shaddows coming towards me and legged it off quickly.think we won the replayed game something like 50 points...happy days

I was at the HKR farce when the lights failed/turned off and we were well in front at the time.....the ticket office give us all a raffle ticket to get in for the replay the following Wednesday (which I couldnt go to cos of work).....I phoned HKR and asked for a refund as couldnt make the replay and was told that its not their fault I had to work and coudnt have a refund.....tight yorkshire gits.

I think we actually lost the Oldham replay I have both games somewhere I'll have a look.

Sorry not at the moment bit busy if I get the time perhaps later in the week, TBH it was filmed from an 80's video camera (8MM I think) and the copy I got of the original video was about 3 rd generation then, and the cameraman didnt use a tripod so it;s a bit ropey
