| Right decision. Makinson was underneath the ball when he jumped. Millard knocked him out from underneath the ball and he barely went an inch off the floor so can hardly claim to have been contesting for it. Makinson would have caught that with ease had he not been shoved.

Even ALL the Sky commentators agreed with me It was a try and if any others contribute we will save Jonny having to do a poll.

| Should have been a try IMO . It was a sending off too. I dint think Thaler was bad at all though tonight. He kept control of the game.

| Saints and Catalan are the 2 SL teams I always tend to support so I like them both.
Makinson got himself into the right position under the ball and timed his jump right, he was way higher than everyone else and would have caught it easily. Millard jumped INTO Makinson. The sky commentators can say he wasn't looking at him but that doesn't mean he didn't know where he was. Makinson out-positioned and out-jumped Millard, he was right underneath the ball until he was 'nudged' out and ended up having to reach backwards to try and get it.
Makinson had the better position, the better timing and the better jump. Millard was well beaten and knew it so he gave him a little 'bump' and it did the trick. With no video ref it would have worked but Ian Smith saw it and got it spot on IMO.

| I am sure 99 out of 100 times it would have been given.
Even the Pie fans agree and we all know they rarely agree with me' given my support for filo as opposed to flaky.

| Thaler was worst tonight than last week, he is certainly out of form. What about the goal line drop out he gave when he adjudged the Saints player to be tackled in goal, no wonder Saints went mad. Plus another dozen mistakes - he had a nighmare.

| Both me and steve said straightaway no try, Makinson would have caught the ball if The Cats player hadn't caught him, also thought the sending off was harsh, his intention was a shoulder hit, it was intentional and should have been yellow imho hes not a dirty player.

I am now convinced that you are clueless about the game and set out to slag the referees off even before the game starts, the goal line drop out was given because the Saints player grounded the ball in the in goal area. It is you that is having the nightmare!
The contentious decision wasn't Thaler's it was Smith's and it could have gone either way. I think it was a penalty.

| You' with respect Reffy are wrong on this one.
Stevo said it was a try so it must have been and infact he never mentioned the possibility of a penalty.
What astonished me was that the ref was given a police escort after the game which was very reminiscent of Warren Turley's experience after our Challenge Cup tie at Limoux.
For these reasons alone I call upon all Leythers to set an example to the rest of the Rugby League world and boycott French wine until those froggies behave themselves.
For non drinkers no more fois gras and for veggies no more baguettes.

| With even more respect, the fact that Stevo said it was a try makes it a definite penalty.

| It was a try in my opinion, any player can catch a ball if they are in the right position but surely it can't be a penalty if another player is contesting for the ball?? I also thought Thaler reffed the game well.

| Well both the coaches of last nights teams thought the video ref got it wrong.
So it seems Stevo has been vindicated and he never said second phase or second stanza last night.

| IMHO - thought Thaler had a decent game. The calls he made without refering to the VR, were usually the right one, when viewed again. The two big calls he refered to the VR in the last ten minutes (the sending off, and the disallowed Catalan try) - I think Smith got both of these wrong. It was a shoulder charge, with no obvious intent to hit him in the face.....I reckon this one will get overturned by the panel.
As regards the obstruction - I don't reckon Makinson would have caught the ball...he only ever looked like getting one hand to it, so it was gonna be a lottery where the ball ended up, and I think the Catalan player did challenge for the ball. I'd have given it myself!!
Another exciting finish though, especially for the neutral, and these two will definately be in the mix come the play-offs!! Pies might well have the Hub Cap sewn up, but they are far from a shoe-in to win the GF....what was looking like a two horse race a few weeks ago has suddenly got two or three more serious contenders catching up on the rail!!!.........Featherstone take note!!

I presume you want Leigh out of the Euro Zone.
The ale was strong in the club tonight.

| I thought it was a try until it was put in slow motion. Millard did push Makinson on his way into the air which knocked him off balance, the correct decision was made but I can see others arguments.
