Been confirmed on twitter as the tv game on thurs 5th July at 7.30pm, as we all really expected. We need as many as possible to get over there to support the lads so beg and steal for half day holiday or whatever it takes to get there. Been well organised and trouble free for our last two visits so should be no excuses there for not attending. COME ON LEYTHERS our team will need us.

Booked the day off this morning.

So it's a virtual replay of this weeks fixtures, Batley on Sun then Fev on Thu/Fri, only this time we'll be playing them both away rather than at home.

Also Fev will have a week off rather than 4 days as they play Halifax away on Thur 28th June.

Also a little like this week, as we played on Sunday, while Fev played on the Thursday at Keighley. However, we can't blame the RFL or Fev, as we chose to play this week's game on Friday, rather than Sunday.

I'd like to just blame them anyway Alan.

As much as I'd like to go, Thursday night means it'll be the Canal Turn for me.

You win some, you lose some. From a playing point of view, the Thursday can work in our favour, if we are televised the following Thursday and our opponenets play on the Sunday.

It's the semi-final Thursday date that disappoints me. However, if they'd picked 'Fax, then Sheffield would have dropped in it, instead of us. ('Fax are Fev's opponents on the Thursday) If only the televised clubs got some financial compensation............

We play Fev on Sky a week tomorrow, which is live on Premier sports and coincides with the England vs Germany/greece assuming we beat the Italians.

if England win vs Italy there will be next to nobody at the Shay vs Fev!

listen folks, no mater who play who, and on what day, one certainty in my book, its time we gave fev the pasting they deserve, they are not unbeatable, and i have every comfidence in rowley and our fantastic team to go to fev and win.

If we were to win of the two games which would you prefer to win and why, I say the semi as theres more games to go before its decided where the league going this year, the one that mean s nowt anyway.
However win the semi and the club finances will look a lot better and its a great day out for the players and fans alike. Then again it wouldnt surprise me if we win or lose both, either game will be very close and could go either way.

Am I wrong but I thought there was a big cash prize for the club winning the Championship Grand Final ?

Whatever I still think our lads will win everything this season.

It was said at a Lisa meeting by someone representing the club that winning the Northern rail cup cost the club money.

Can't see how that would be the case when the players gave up their bonus last year? If when the bonuses are taken in to consideration, I'm sure our share of the gate and the merchandise etc, not to mention prize money, that goes along with winning the cup would surely make it worthwhile?!

I don't know about losing money last year but I do remember Phil Coffey saying likewise after the 2006 NRC final victory against Hull KR.

One of the reasons given is that Leigh are only able keep a share of the gate receipts from final tickets purchased from the Leigh club.

I'd have though getting £xxx.xx amount of money from a game you wouldn't have budgeted for playing is better than getting no money whatsoever.
Throw in the chance of flogging some Leigh tshirts / Replica shirts / Caps etc, etc and the hidden benefits such as raising the clubs profile so it attracts fans to support the club and I can't see how you could actually lose on this

I would suggest that comment was either a mistake or a mistruth.

The money from the NRC probably got us to the end of the regular season imo

We got a 54 seater coach up for last years final, Plonk loner and me got all tickets bought through the club and the coach through LISA, there was about half who are none regulars, and as one of my regular suggestions is everyone in Cherry and White, it was compulsory on our coach and quite a few bought something from the club.

There may be some truth in that, 'cos the 'glory-hunters' didn't turn up that day....all were predicting that Leigh were gonna get a 'tatering' from the all-conquering HKR. From what I remember, Leigh only sold just over 2k tickets - and from all that was said about how our '06 squad cost more than the SL one, maybe with win bonuses, etc it did end up costing 'em......which, because he didn't deliver the GF as well, cost Benson his job!!
