Nice to see Derek Disleys commentary was a lot more unbiased way back then.

I will be posting a few more 'Centurions on video' classic cup encounters over the next week or so as a build up to the Leeds game.

I have 99% of all Leigh games (except the Grand Finals for which the club couldn't be bothered getting me clearance to film

, and a couple of away TV games over the last season or so) since the start of the 2001 season when I took over the duties, it's a matter of finding them amongst all the chaos that is my collection, I will get around to cataloguing them all as I have classic Leigh games going back to the early 90's, and am always looking for more.

I`ve got a lot Fred .......a lot on VHS from your early days ...The 2001 season was epic..

You're not kidding!! After the 2000 GF at Gigg lane, Turk was quoted as saying that we'd 'walk the league' the following season...and boy was he proved right!! Now that was the best team outside SDL......by a country mile!!



Other than the blip at a St. John Ellis inspired 'combative' Donny , and a freak result at Rochdale the regular season went like a dream. There was the Transvestite Cup rout at Keighley, and the Challenge cup heroics against Salford and Wire. Turley scoring seemingly at will (God knows how many points he'd have amassed if he'd been the goal-kicker as well!!), and just a desire and team spirit not unlike what we've had in the last couple of seasons!!

Then we got to the play-offs, and it all went to rat s**t!!!.......bit like last season really!!!

Was that when they had bout 5 DG against us..................

I'd forgotten that we started the season with a rest week - as the NFP had an odd number of teams!!

Yet another hat-trick from Turley......and a 16 point haul from Timmy in his final league game for us. I think it was the missed opportunity for Timmy to bow out in a GF for us that will be the abiding sadness about that season - it would have been a fitting send-off for a great servant of the club......bit like Hilly last year!!

Not sure Bart, as that's one of the few away games I didn't make it to that season - think final score was summat like 19-13, so there must have been at least a couple of DGs......and quite a bit of biff, from what I remember of the match reports!!



'Uncompromising' would be the best way to described Singe's teams.....you could imagine how that would go down with the likes of Timmy, Whittle, Sid and Brads!!!
