Lets drop the Wigan relationship, its turning into a P take. As good as Russell is/will be we don't need him and it will hack off Pownall/McNally/Brierley if we play him.

Great start from him, looked VERY solid in defence and wasn't he responsible for the kick through for a Pownall try in the first half?

When we first signed Russell, I don't think we appreciated just how close to Wigan's first team he was.

Agreed about Laithwaite,sometimes you get a feeling about a player the first time you see them and i got that feeling last night. Hopefully with having such a small squad we can look to keeping him long term

Laithwaite was quality last night. Ran hard in attack and was very eager in defence plus a very shrewd kick through to send Pownall in at the corner. Keep him and Brierly, get rid of Shaw and Russell. They are only really likely to play wing as McNally is doing well at FB (ignoring his rather large balls up early 2nd half!) and why would we want to play other teams kids on the wing to the detriment of our own young wingers. Pownall was brilliant last night and fully deserved his hattrick and his MOM. Only a very unlucky bounce stopped him from getting 4.

TOP signing.....Wire certainly have some quality in their squad.
Matty Russell is a very good player, but we don't need him, he is more of a 'utility player' but we do have cover, would have rather kept Tom Spencer to be honest. As for Ryan Shaw, not too good with his defence at the moment, would definitely send him back to Warrington.

Can't believe what I'm reading here Russell is pure class and we should be thankful that Wiggin have allowed a class young un to come over on a dual
We only have a small squad and need to rest players every now and again
Players like Russell are few and far between
