I was wondering what was everyone's oldest original Leigh Rugby shirt?

I've got a few from the late 1980's onwards inc the Windowcraft one, but sadly I don't have anything sooner like the adidas championship shirt. Do any of these ever pop up on ebay?

Does anyone know what the oldest existing Leigh shirt is?

Mines the ASDA one on proper hoops. Pretty sure I've slung out all the other ones.

I have a cherry & white hooped jersey from the late 70's. Doesn't have a badge on it though.

I have this one. Andy Collier wore it in the last game of the season vs. Widnes (and scored the winning try in the last minute, I think?).

And then Troy Clarke kicked the conversion to send everyone into "party mood""

My Grandma used to wash and repair / sew the shirts for Leigh back in the 60's and 70's.
In my cupboard I have an original Leigh Coat of Arms which was sewn onto the shirts.
My Dad said it was an extra one from the '71 final shirts but he might have just been building my hopes up when he gave it to me about 30-odd years ago.

Yeah, that's my oldest as well - along with the blue away shirt......my mate's late Mum was a supervisor at Ellgren, and the two shirts were sold as 'seconds', but were actually 'mint'!!
I think the ex may have screwed up washing them at some point, 'cos they must have shrunk!!



The oldest shirt still wearable in my collection is the '99 vintage (I think!) Bulldog home shirt sponsored by Blakleys.

That suprises me , as i have a Windowcraft Leigh shirt ,i didnt think it was that old , and it isnt Cherry and White hoops either .My old mate Tony Cottrell was in the team then .

That is not the same shirt , unless you have been in our loft Matt?But it is the exact same design , only thing is it wont fit me now , i was a tad slimmer in those days .

Nicked from the ever reliable 'Old Rugby Shirts' website. I was only born in 1986 so fair to say I don't remember that shirt!

We used that same design for 2 seasons. In 1987 Halbro supplied it but in 1988 Umbro were the manufacturer. Umbro's replica shirts also had their logo and the town crest sewn in. I used to have one back in the day.
