| Thought today was a ok sort of performance.
Seemed to start slow and then realised we could beat them if we kept the ball alive, when we did move the ball (and put in a few dummy runners / moves) we looked a far better team than Hunslet.
Can't really think of a standout performer and thought everyone put the effort in.
It was a flat atmosphere in the ground until the referee did his part in livening it up , a try given to Hunslet that on first looking seemed A) Offside and B) If grounded from outside the field of play got a few people annoyed and thus created some atmosphere (notable Mention to the Hunslet number 18 for doing good work in creating some atmosphere , not sure he meant to do that though).
In terms of discipline today was a bad one, yes the official was baffling at times but we should be far better in the discipline stakes - we have enough big game experience in our squad to not react to provocation or from percieved refereeing mistakes.
The positives (result aside) was we did keep going and even with some shortages in personnel we had enough in the tank to beat a fairly decent looking Hunslet side, Littler did enough for the M.O.M for me but I think Nicholson got the official M.O.M (Can't argue with that).
Things are still looking up although in the league I think we will have some tough times ahead if we are consistantly unable to put our strongest team out - I think fans expectations will need managing as for me I'll be happy if we get 5th after everything thats gone on, if fans are expecting top 2nd or 3rd then the players will need to stay injury free.
All in all though a good day out , of more importance (well it is to Mr Dearden on Radio Manc ) was I saw my first SL lorry on the M61, In fact as Jack was at the LSV I bet he only just missed it travelling down from Oldham as I passed it circa 1.20pm heading North near Adlington

| Now that is a good post.
For me the Hunslet player was on the ground outside the field of play when he reached back to touch the ball in the touch in goal area so no try.
Just after that Goulden was over the line but held up by 3 or 4 Hunslet players. The ref called held the Hunslet players pushed Goulden dead and the ref gave a 20 metre tap.
The video will show both incidents. I thought the ref had a bad game.

There's a new rule been brought in about that, but I can't remember the details - any refs out there?

The ref lost control of the game completely. Players from both sides were mouthing off at him. A lot of his decisions were baffling to say the least. The last time I saw a referee perform like that was James Childs. So heres hoping he quickly gets promoted to Super League like Childs did!!

| I enjoyed the joke on GMR from a text refering to the St Helens teams form, it said that a Stobart trailer had been spotted on the side of the motorway. It was the Saints one. It was jacked up because the wheels had come off.

| Hunslet began the niggling tactics in 2nd half and Leigh at times fell for it instead of sticking to playing rugby { I know its easier said than done } The ref well what can I say Mmmmm best say nothing at all !

| I thought we gave as much as we got at times in terms of the niggles. A side featuring any of the March brothers is obviously one that fancies it can handle itself, but we gave away a good few penalties for dissent and certainly above-average for high tackles as well I think.

| Do me a favour lads, can anyone confirm if that last goal kick missed or not? From where i was standing behind the sticks i thought it went inside the sticks but both touch judges ruled it out.I had 50 quid on leigh -18 which meant it ended a draw on the hcap and feel robbed but maybe my eyesight is as bad as the refs!

From our position (back of the West Stand around the 20metre line) Walt Jnr. said it was in........but, to be fair, he says that for all our goals that get waved away!!

| Couldn't believe that the kick missed from such a short distance , all in all thought we just did enough today to hold a very spirited Hunslet side . Think they had delusions of grandeur and were going for 2 wins from 2 after beating Swinton at our place the week previous . The last try of the game for us was a pearler , the ball kept alive well and Worrincy totally deserving his try
As for the ref , some very poor decisions i.m.o. and would referr him to the rule book for a good read
. At times we didn't help ourselves r.e. discipline
A wins a win and at least the team didn't think the game was won at 22 points up this week

Think this is the rule change I meant: -
Addition – Section 9 Law 2 (b) Dead in Goal
=#FF0000The ball is dead in goal when it or a player in contact with it touches the dead ball line or any object on or outside the dead ball line.
Addition – Notes to Section 9 4. Ball dead and in touch
=#FF0000Where the ball which has bounced or has been passed in the field of play or the in goal area comes into contact with a player in touch, touch in goal or over the dead ball line, the ball is deemed to have been made dead or taken into touch by that player. Where the ball is played at from a kick that has not bounced in the field of play by a player who has at least one foot on the touch-line or in touch then the ball is deemed to have been made dead or taken into touch by the kicking team.
From that, it rather sounds (I think!) that if the guy was on/over the dead ball line, it shouldn't have been a try?

The ref never had control as soon as he walked onto the pitch. How good was the last try by Worrincy an excellent break and back up between him and Gallagher it was certainly worth the admission for that try alone.

| I think when you bear in mind that we were down to two subs after about thirty minutes we didn't do all that badly. Some of the lads put in some real big minutes, not least Duff's who did the full 80.
Also we were unable to use brierly in the manner that we are accustomed to as he was out on the wing after deano went off, which was a shame.
Hunslet once behind obviously just went for spoiling Tactics and the referees performance was without doubt the worst i've seen at the LSV.
The tommy Goulden iuncident was a prime example...

| I usually have some sympathy fo referees (except Mr Child of course) but I have to agree he was very poor yesterday. He completely gave up on off-side which allowed Hunslet far too much leeway when Leigh were near their line. He seemed very young: I hope he learns not to tolerate the lip he was taking yesterday which was all part of Hunslet's attempt to slow the game down which they did very successfully. March should have been marched.

| Charlie thought Littler was MOM , but overall it was for me the worst game of the season so far ,another Riddy goal would have given Charlie a correct score on the forcast Comp , with my Joker ,we will have to improve when the League starts , as a speedy team would really put us to the Sword .

| TBH I also thought on first impression that it wasn't a good game, but after watching it again just now some of our off the ball running was quite good and only the final execution (or lack of it) re dropped passes, wrong kick options and good defence was at fault. Also the niggling and quite poor refereeing display was the main cause the game wasn't allowed to flow, Hunslet have some very good players but a couple out there on Sunday spoiled it for them.

Me too. Although we've had disruptions in the play-making area. Duffy missed Sheffield and Beswick missed Hunslet. On top of that, our 'secret weapon' has had to fill in at full back and wing, because of injuries, when he is more devastating at half back.

| People don't make that sort of adjustment in their thinking though Alan that and we have been restricted by the injuries to our 'grunts' which mean that other players have had to fill in, in not what is their natural playing positions.
