A lot of empty seats at the Wigan v Saints game yesterday.

If rugby league can't sell out fixtures like this then plainly something is wrong.

Less than 13 thousand which was suprising! Didn't saints take 4 ?

Same old problem with playoff and cup rugby, season tickets don't apply and the games on TV. As I said on another forum, charge £20 extra at the start of the season, then if you're team make the playoffs your season tickets valid, if not you get £20 off next years ST.

Games never been in a worse state, but no wind of change due to execs raking it in from SL.

Why attend this game when in 2 wks time saints and Wigan will meet again when it really counts. The play off structure is a joke!

2,500 Saints. Play off crowds are abysmal, and who can blame people when they're expected to fork out four weeks in a row and teams aren't even being eliminated?!

12 team super league with top 5 playoff. Easy.

I quite agree.If there must be a play off system then top four only,1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd with the winners facing eachother in the final.None of this second bite of the cherry nonsense and rewarding mediocrity with teams involved from lower league positions.

Our league would be better too. 12 team championship with the likes of Fax, Leigh, Fev, Wakey, Crusaders in it would be far more attractive to sponsors/TV companies etc

Can't imagine that working Jonny with it being a shared gate, would see it causing a massive ball ache trying to split this and then how would it work if teams didn't get to the playoffs, would they refund it?

It's something that is more than possible as a ticket would be processed for the full value of the 'top up' and then the financials based on that as normal so that isn't much of a stumbling block, other than we'd have already spent the money at the start of the season! No refunds, just the chance you take as you might end up doing well out of it if we got 2 play off home games etc. It obviously takes a certain amount of administration work though which is an obvious stumbling block for our resources.

As for the actual play offs, 1v4 and 2v3 in a straight knock out makes perfect sense to me, but the RFL would lose a huge amount of revenue with so few play off games and as such will never allow it in the memory of man.

It's not that hard.
All clubs have already had their £20 at the start of the season. Any extra tickets sold from walk ups get split 50/50.

I am sure i havent thought this all the way through, but, what about Having play offs for just the top 4 teams, play them home and away so each play off team gets 2 matches. They can keep the home gate, do whatever they want as regards including the season ticket holders. Maybe award the higher placed teams, a number of points head start to reward then for their seasons efforts.
