If things went pear shaped at Castleford i would really find it difficult to welcome back Millward to Leigh, he has done it twice to us now, we need a commited long term coach who wont leave after two seasons, i know he has done very well at Leigh on both occasions but i feel leigh gives him the oppotunity and he waits a year or so then leaves.

Leigh's record of hiring and firing hasn't been great in the past either.

I get the feeling that Ian's stay at the club this time around has been longer than quite a few of his predessors, so i think you are being unfair.

It just comes down to beggars cant be choosers. We're lucky to have had him this year and wouldn't be where we are now with out him. That's all there is to it, being the coach of Leigh isnt a great job for a Super League calibre coach.

We can't afford a SDL standard coach!!

Basil is too good a coach to be stuck in the Ch for another 3 seasons!!

Until we can provide Ian with the resources to at least take us to / keep us in Super League then he has every right to leave us. To have had Ian here these last 2 seasons has been a breath of fresh air and we won't get or keep a coach of that calibre again.

Enjoy the good times while we have them, they're to be savoured.

In fairness had he not left first time around I think he'd have been afforded the resources to get us there and make a good fist of things.

What happens if his wife finds out

I'm as gutted as the next person, that Ian is leaving. I was despondent when his deparure was announced, because he was involved in everything that is good at Leigh, at the moment.

Lately, I have been lucky enough to see/hear Ian in action, and the man has an incredible knowledge of the game, and his attention to detail is second to none.

However, I firmly believe that he is only leaving, because he felt that the club, in its current financial limbo, couldn't guarantee him his salary next season. Sure, there's a negative aspect to him going - but there's a positive one too, isn't there? Just look at the season we have ENJOYED, compared with the one before he came.

So, in our disappointment, let's thank him for what he has done, and move on.

Would I have him back? Yes, definitely! But of course, his successor might prove so successful, that we wouldn't want him to leave either!!

Phil, perhaps the club can offer the possibility of full-time at level three, because they can do so at a saving on Ian's salary package?

Are you saying that all Level 3 Coaches are on the same pay structure?

If AT had stayed solvent I reckon he would have stayed. He has done nothing wrong, has not left us in the dog doo, and may even have left in order to help us out financially, if he wants to come back when we sort our selves out any Leyth fan would be a FOOL not to have him back.

Having seen several of the RUWC games so far I reckon your bread knife could coach half of them better than the current incumbents.

On the 'plus' side it looks like the cack nations have improved no end. No more 100-0 thrashings. Hope we can say the same in the RLWC......
