Obviously, what Ian has achieved has been outstanding and his popularity with the Leigh public is fantastic.

But, how about this......
maybe Ian moving on is all about the next era of our club and its time to let go of his apron strings and find our next path in the life of Leigh Centurions.

In some sense Ian is a somewhat part of our past - moving from HP to the LSV, being close to Arthur Thomas etc etc.

The club is going through huge change and some we will like, but we will get others that we don't - and we can't pick and choose unfortunately.

What is impressing me about Trevor Barton is how he is trying to reach out and be open with the the Leigh public.
This also means the future of the club is more in our hands - there aren't people to blame anymore. The fans will get a club that they are prepared to pay for but the club has to produce an offering that we value.

How about our club encouraged Ian to find a club to get the payroll down and nobody is talking to any players about next year so they havent a clue where they will be playing, and their agents are touting them everywhere.
WTF is going on, we need some communication from them soon

I have a feeling that someone is coming in at the end of the season to take over and he and his team are going to take the club forward beyond our wildest dreams !!!!!

well i hope someone is comin but at this rate he will need a whole new team cause all the players will ave contracts with other cllubs if we dont move soon

They should hang on till the season ends and see what happens...............LOYALTY is a big thing and they either want to play for Leigh or they just want to be at a club that will pay them the most............... if thats the case then good-bye I say as we want players that want to be here.

Loyalty doesn't pay the bills.

But they have jobs as well to pay the bills and some I bet are on a lot more than me............. then add their pay from rugby and you will find they earn more than you think.

Most clubs at our level wont be making rash contract decisions as yet and I'm sure many of the playing staff will want to see what happens and stay at Leigh if possible.

I do know this. "your damned if you do and damned if you don't" I have heard many a statement on here and probably about this time of the season to. Things like why is the club unsettling the team by making statements about players leaving. Why has the coach decided to tell such a player he is not going to be involved next season just before the grand final Blah blah blah. Now we are calling for whats going on, tell us now when the club is actually being silent over players at a very important time for us.

Lets finish with a bang then sort all the pooh out.

At the fans' forum, Ian stated that they hadn't been able to discuss playing terms for next season, at that stage, because the club had been unable to finalise a business plan. (uncertainty of backers, fixtures etc.) He did add, that the players wanted to stay at Leigh, though.

At our last home game I asked Mick Nanyn and Millsy are they staying and both said they hoped so.

I think its time Leythers got their heads round the fact that we are not going to get anywhere further than we are at present. We get good players & can't keep them, we get a good coach & can't keep them its always been the same. Reality check I think. I have been a fan for 30 odd years & seen the good & the bad

Good to see that the usual pessimistic Leyther heads have appeared on here again.

Every season we go through some trauma, every year the same faces say it's the end of the club and that we're doomed (insert reasons here - usually RFL, Sky, SL, Chaiman, board in that order) but come the start of the following year, we're always still here.

I'll bet none of the usual suspects ever has a half full glass.

It is worth repeating that the aim of this club is to try and achieve SL status. A lot of hard work has to go into stabilising the current situation, and then building on the positives we possess.

Thats where you are wrong. I will always support Leigh & have done as a volunteer for 25 years but as I pointed out things beyond our control are always stacked against us

No use always having half full glass, whats in it goes flat or vinegary. Mines always full or empty only because I am greedy and have a problem. Especially when it's empty.

Maybe.

But there's one thing I do know - those that perservere to achieve reasonable aims will overcome the obstacles in their way to get there in the end.

What this club needs is a leader that has vision, perserverance and the ability to make people believe in their plan.

There are many ways this club can be better than it is now, some are easy to achieve, some aren't. But if we build, step-by-step, we can become a much better club.

And to be fair, with the way Rugby League clubs are run in this country, it wouldn't be all that difficult to reach the top in this sport.

But before any of that can happen, we need our own 'Steve Jobs'.
