just to be pedantic (I will explain later) in a recent e mail to the ch exec of the council re our clubs 'plight' in the reply it was pointed out to me that it is no longer a MBC.
In the reply and I quote ' just to remind you that we are no longer a Metropolitain Borough Council but are known as 'Wigan Council'' to which I replied 'Oh well as I live in Leigh not in Wigan I'll not be sending my council tax in then as I haven't got one'.
There was no reply to that

YET, I await the summons or distress warrant

It has been mentioned on here in the past that they seemed to be rebranding by stealth, shame it's now official (though I'll continue to refer to them as WMBC regardless)

Well in Atherton we have a Manchester post code ,a Bolton West MP and pay our tax to Wigan !!

I only miss a Warrington postcode by about 25m

I'm no Genesis fan but the handling of that club by the council and the LSV is a utter utter disgrace.
I would hope the people of Leigh actually told there local councillers just what they think of this, I would be certainly asking them if they actively helped in trying to save the club or if the towns MP was involved in trying to save them from being thrown out of the LSV.

We may think Genesis going under will have no effect on us whatsoever, however with so many juniors now without a focal point / club they will find something else to do.
That could be the usual vandalism, drugs or lawlessness which a lot of youngsters now see as a solution, this inevitably leads to a spiral of costs to the Taxpayer and a unsafe enviroment for many to live and work.

Ironically after Englands national team gets hammered at whatever sport we are playing we will have the various governemnt and independent enquiries into what 'went wrong' and why we are not producing enough quality players from Junior age upwards.

Sorry to hear about Genesis. I remember going to the LISA meeting in the Mick Martyn bar before we moved when LSV rep (Simon Toone was it?) painted a exciting new future for both football and rugby clubs. Now with the towns football club is gone.
