Having just watched in amazement at the replay of Catalans third try being awarded, it got me thinking of other occasions where we've been knocked out of the cup because of a pivotal refereeing decision. Anyone got any additions to the two below?

1999 vs Wakefield at HP. Matched them through the game but Goulding throws out a hail mary of a forward pass that Cummings ignores, Wakey go under the sticks and game over.

2002 in THAT game against Wigan where Cummings (AGAIN!) gave a drop out instead of a Leigh tap from 20 and Brett Dallas scored off the next set of six to put Wigan in front.

Dave McConnell goes in at the Glebe St end just to the right of the sticks in 2004 against Hull FC off a Neil Turley pass, in the final seconds of the tie. Everybody is ecstatic, only for Mr.Ganson to disallow the try. What a result that would have been.

Was n`t that the one when Stu pid Cummins ruled that the "Rolling ball" was n`t a rolling ball. It should ve resulted in a 20m restart for us instead of a drop out from under our sticks, they scored off the resulting set of 6.

Remember it well but that was a league match.

Although there was controversy in the SL fixture in 2005 with the same ref, Mr.Ganson, I am 100% certain that the incident I am referring to was in the cup in 2004. I am sure you will remember that Dave McConnell did not play for Leigh in Super League.

Yeah that's the one. Pretty sure Cummings went on GMR after the game to admit his mistake.

That is the problem with rugby league today, decisions are not consistantly applied. Things are let go but when the referee decides to use one of the rules it probably is correct, the gripe is the other 9 times he let it go. Last night when we were camped on their line for the last 10 mins they were never on side, nothing given, however he could quite easily have given a penalty or sent someone to the bin. By not consistantly applying the rules winners and losers are decided by the referee and not the players. If full time officials have improved the standard of refereees, my we must have been bad

Anyone else remember losing to St.Esteve in the cup 18-25 I think? Wet night at HP and I remember the crowd going mad at the ref but his name won't come to me, think it was over a sending off.

Ref was Stuart Cummings

St.Esteve had a Leyther in their ranks that day as well - IIRC Alex Cain ?
