Maybe what I should have asked was how did they vote and are they happy with the outcome.

I'd be very interested to hear how they both voted.

My bet: East for, Miners against. I'd hope both voted for it personally. I know the Miners are a very traditional club though.

Here in the deep south we only have summer rugby. Let me tell you now, it's absolutely fantastic.

Do you find that fans attend the amatuer matches rather than the semi pro ones locally ?

IMO it `ll be better all round ,I`m pretty sure all the juniors would rather be playing TGG in reasonably warmer conditions. It also aligns the top tiers of our game under the same playing timescales. Are the rest of BARLA going to follow suit or are they digging their Yarkshire heels in?

The Cumberland League have already voted to switch to summer from 2012. Not before time given the number of games called off this season and last.

Why?

Will this mess up the cup competitions ?

Cumbria aren't changing until 2012


May only affect the National Cup not by much seeing as only 2 or 3 Cumbeland League teams entered this season.

I'm sure they've done as much damage to the game over the years as any other part of the game.

On the whole I'd agree it makes sense for all levels of the sport to be in a seasonal alignment - but where are we going to get our 'fix' in the off-season now???

That would be my question Walt , I wont be able to go to a RL match twice in a weekend , so it will be East that miss out for me , others may choose East/Miners over the Centurions , just pointing it out , not moaning about it

I think there may be more midweek games especially local derbies (East/Miners v Wigan/St Helens teams) and the overlapping of seasons certainly didn't detract from the Miners v East crowd last week. Can you imagine that fixture on a balmy summer evening - it would be packed to the rafters!
