just watching last nights leeds V saints did anyone else notice the 'cowled' look in the tunel when the teams were coming out? Sky and the RFL aint half hypeing this exiles game up, god marketing though or will folk be sick to the back teeth with it come time fo the game?

I don't mind it Fred. At least they're making an effort, normally they just decide to put a game on and that's it, it's up to the fans to decide whether they fancy it or not.

Is it a huge expense the advertising they're doing though? It's a few e-mails and banners but they're not exactly doing what the pies did last year and taking out an advert halfway through Corrie are they?

put it this way would you not rather see the money spent on youth development throughout the country or on what is becoming a stupid crass advertising campaing for a nothing game? at least wigan spent their own money and not the sports.

Youth and Junior not a RFL priority now Fred ,all the RFL Development officers have been instructed to priorotise Womens rugby, been given targets to get 500 women activley playing the game in each area.
I have nothing against womens rugby but the RFL should be promoting and developing all areas of the game .

What the hell happened to France? Thought the main reason of having Catalans in the league was to improve the French??

Why dont the RFL as Fred says above invest this advertising else where.

You can't really blame Catalans and the French re the mid-season test. What other Super League club would relish virtually all their best players being involved whilst most of the others get a mid-season break? There's a healthy interest in international RL in France (witness their crowds last autumn). We should tap into that by playing them in France as a warm-up for the Four Nations. Come to think of it, the Aussies and/or Kiwis could do that too.

I actually agree with this, it's a much better idea than playing a made up team and it improves France and the profile of the game in France.
