It doesn't , it is an initiative that W1g4n can do as a SL club with a much larger profile , I can see Keith suggesting it as something the Centurions could follow , but unlikely to happen or for the Centurions to be in a position to actually do it , IMO

Other than possibly the money available to them and the fact that they are full time, I’m not to sure what makes you feel this is any different from what we’ve been trying to do for over 12mths?
Quote ="mr. chairman"Steve Hampson, Stuart Fielden, Jeff Lima and Chris Tuson will join the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Team next Wednesday (19th Jan) night to formally launch the 2011 Community Club's Partnership. The launch event will begin at 6.30pm in the 188Bet Lounge at the DW Stadium.'"
Leigh Centurions formally launched its Partnership with the Amateur Clubs at the Leigh v Barrow TV game at the start of last season, each club was given a large banner with their clubs name on, signed shirt, ball, invited to the post match presentations, pitch parade etc.
Quote ="mr. chairman"This will be an opportunity for representatives of amateur sports clubs to find out how they can benefit from becoming a partner of the Super League Champions in 2011. This will include new ways of promoting your club for 2011 with a Club-Player link, special match-day experiences, fundraising opportunities and much much more.
Representatives from amateur clubs present on the evening will have their club entered into a special draw to have their club linked with a Warriors Star for the 2011 season.'"
As you know we’ve had regular monthly meetings, trying to share ideas. Amateur club promotion’s is something we’re working on as we speak (although we are awaiting info from some of the clubs ). Links to the Amateur clubs is available on the official site. Club to player links was done last year and will be repeated again this season, special match day experience – last season free tickets were available for most games, one match the Amateur clubs were give the opportunity to provide mascots free of charge. And as you know we’re in the process of trying to organise player recruitment days. Last season Ian Millward ran some coaching the coach sessions, which again hopefully will be repeated this time.
Quote ="mr. chairman"We will also be joined on the evening by the General Manager of HW Moon Toyota, Steve Mather, who will be on hand to share his knowledge of sponsorship - including why the company has supported Wigan Warriors for many years.
If you would like to represent your amateur club at the launch evening and would like your club to become a Community Club Partner in 2011, please contact Warriors Development Officer Amanda Wilkinson on 07891 882 048 or email a.wilkinson@wiganwarriors.com'"
Could it be better, of course it could and we should be prepared to learn and identify improvement from wherever, but as I said I’m not sure it’s that different from what we’re already doing

I'd have thought this is easier to accomplish when your players are full time. The vast majority of our players have to go and do the 9-5 grind every day and train in the evenings so I'd assume they dont have the time to give up.

This was discussed at the very start of setting up the forum, we had several issues, the main one being as Kevster says, our players have other jobs and train in the evenings/Saturday morning, when the Amateur kids train, CRB checks would be required for all players taking sessions, like people in all walks of life players may not wish to volunteer, although I do know of at least two players who are actively involved in coaching juniors.
The best we could come up with under the circumstances was whenever possible to allocate 2-3 players per club to be available on request for photo shoots, presentation nights, promotions, etc. And for Ian Millward and Gary Eccleston to run coaching the Coach session, yes this had issues but hopefully we’ll all learn from those issues and be better organised this season.

Why? These things should be raised, as I said I’m not to sure what they are doing that’s any different from us but if they are doing things ‘better’ let’s be prepared to learn from them.

| Thats a very valid point Martin about player availability. A lot of people including myself sometimes forget that our players have jobs and famillies aswell as playing for Leigh where as a player at Wigan who is a full time pro may have time on their hands to commit to such programs. I also think you would need a good few big blokes to get Keith into the stocks. Maybe for charity eh Keith.

| All Leythers will be pleased if you keep producing great talent who find their ways into the Pro ranks, hopefully with the Leyth.
The same applies to the Miners.

| Keith me and Steve attended Wigan to the Scholarship launch dinners several years ago and it was embrassing they did nothing other then try and ridule Leigh, we was invited the year after and declined as it was truly appalling the way Leigh were protrayed and for this reason, and others I hate Wigan and all that represents them.

I for one wasn't upset, in fact I'd be interested to hear the details of what they are planning.
