| For the last week or so:
ASDA / Sainsburys 121.9
Texaco / Shell around the borough 122.9 / 123.9
Texaco Leigh Rd 126.9
Today, all have increased by 3p due to the VAT
EXCEPT Texaco Leigh Rd which is still 126.9
Seems to me that they are taking the
I would hope all Leythers spot the daylight robbery and boycott that filling station. I pass daily and they regularly add a penny or two then drop a penny then up again when all others remain stable.

| Maybe the club could get a sponsorship type thing based on Leythers using one station ? A few hundred cars spending £10 + per week must be an attractive target for a company.
I spend £20 per working week = just short of £1000 per year.
If another couple of hundred do the same surely it would be an attractive proposition to a petrol station to sponsor Leigh Centurions on a percentage basis on production of a season ticket / LISA card etc.
Maybe a job for our marketing department - if so who can I forwrd the idea to?

| I wouldn't use the Texaco garage if I lived next door, it's always been a rip off. I've no idea how they get away with it to be honest, or why anyone would go when Asda and Sainbury's are around the corner.
The one on the East Lancs near the Toby Carvery is just as bad to be honest.

It makes you think what are they feeding the hens on doesn't it ?

| The garage on Leigh road added 2p on fuel at 10.30pm on new years eve well before any other garage.
Fuel has risen from about 95p ( diesel ) in 2007 a litre to todays ave £1.32.
Funny thats a rise of 12p per litre before the general election when:
By Robert Winnett, Deputy Political Editor 11:07AM BST 12 Apr 2010
David Cameron will propose temporarily cutting fuel duty to protect motorists from the impact of rising oil prices.
The move would be funded from the increased taxes the Government raises from other levies on oil companies when wholesale prices rise.
During the past few weeks, the cost of petrol has risen to a record high, averaging £1.20 a litre. This has been caused by the cost of a barrel of oil rising to $85 (£55) and the pound falling against the dollar.
Alistair Darling, the Chancellor, recently decided to push ahead with above-inflation increases in fuel duty. Duty will rise by 3p per litre over the next year.
The “fuel duty stabiliser” is the latest Conservative tax policy designed to help hard-pressed families.
So for all the people that voted for the Tories and Lib Dems yet another manifesto lie .
We had fuel protests then so why are we putting up with it now ?
2011 Fuel Tax Figures
A 0.76p increase on the 1st January 2011 brought the duty rate for the main road fuels up to 58.95p per litre. This coincided with the 2.5% increase in VAT rate, which is now at record high of 20%

| This email is doing the rounds again seems a good idea to me although I’d say boycott all the major companies.
Quote Please see what you think and pass it on if you agree with it.
We are hitting £129.9 a litre in some areas now and soon we will be faced with paying £1.50 per litre. So Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign' that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read it and join in!
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS - not sellers control the market place. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one) i.e. ESSO and BP.
If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!
Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to a lot of people. If all of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)....and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on. By the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....
THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all YOU have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at ESSO/BP). How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell,Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Jet etc. i.e. Boycott BP and Esso '"

| The Watcher knows that if HMRC did not get the money from petrol tax then it would get it from somewhere else. The Government requires X amount of £`s to run the country, that figure will not alter if petrol tax is reduced. It will be time to worry when petrol becomes the same price as lager per gallon.

| With inflation rising rapidly and economic growth in reverse the next step is a rise in interest rate to make the rich richer.
Something must be done to protect the working class people that drive this country.
Immigration is bleeding this country dry and none of the political parties have the bottle to address it.
Fuel will be £1.50 a gallon to compensate for the above before the summer.

Not often I'll agree with our 3rd person poster , but he is right , if we all bought electric cars tomorrow , they would put up road tax to £ 1,500 the day after , they need the same amount of money to run the country
If we all fitted windmills and solar panels overnight , they would have to find another way to bring in all the tax they get from the sale of Electricity
That's just the way it is
