| Just out of curiosity where did all our last seasons released players go since we let them go? I know Morty has gone to Swinton but a few were going to Blackpool from what I heard before the enevitable demise of the club so have any of these guys been lucky enough to find a new club?

| I am aware of Andy Ainscough, Dale Cunniffe and Mike Morrison from last year's squad who have joined Ian Mort at Swinton for the forthcoming season.

| I'm surprised McConnell hasn't been snapped up by a C1 club he's not a bad player neither are Stanton or Alstead at that level

| they have recruted some good players ie smith, morrison, mort, as well as the likes of ian watson and gavin dodd who are still there i think they are favorites for promotion as for their gates going up only time will tell.

| Since Swinton haven't bothered the likes of the roughyeds & Hornets must be happy with their squad. I feel sorry for Stanton he could could of been a pro footballer at w8g@n athletics but choose the path of rugby instead

| i hope there gates do go up because i dont think they will be able to finance that squad on gates of 400 or less.
a few clubs recruited well last season in the CC1 and the gates they got didnt justify the outlay and they got found out in the end.

| Swinton have a squad that could survive in the championship with the quality & experiance they have now but I pray they don't go bust but how can they stay a float with their average gates they'd have to pay the players peanuts

Yup, they are indeed.
Do expect their crowds to be up a bit (Salford fans with an interest, locals to The Willows who wouldn't have travelled previously, etc) although there has been talk amongst some exisiting Swinton fans of boycotting games because they're played at our place?! (talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face?!?)
Can't see them making it to the 1000 home average that they are apparently targeting this year though, which is a shame as I think they will be a decent side who play good football and go well in Ch1.

| There are NO Swinton fans who are boycotting the Willows. The harsh reality has been spelt out by John Kidd. The cost of playing at Sedgley Park couldnt be justified by the attendances we were getting.Without a car Sedgley is a difficult venue to travel to requiring a minimum two buses from Swinton. The Willows is much more accessible and hopefully with a succesful team and help from a few rugby loving Salfordians our gates will improve. The Willows is due to be demollished after Salford leave and therefore it cant be a long term option for Swinton Lions.Plans for a stadium at Agecroft are well documented and alot of people are working very hard behind the scenes to bring the club home.It is not beyond the realms of possibility that we could be there for the 2012 season if everything goes to plan. All in all its a big season for the Lions another poor season on the field would be disastous.Come and support the Lions if you dont have a game.Good luck for the season.

I can provide you with names, addresses and phone numbers if you like?
Most recent reason I heard was "I'd rather watch Rugby Union in the Congo than pay to go into a stadium that's owned by that ba***rd Wilkinson".
I did try to explain that John Wilky doesn't actually own The Willows, and that boycotting games there would only hurt Swinton, but to no avail.
Thanks for trying to imply that I'm a liar though.

| On the subject of ex-Leythers, I understand Luke Isakka is returning on Tuesday to play for Whitehaven. Did he ever get to play at Leigh or did he just take the money?

He played for about half an hour in one game if memory serves me right?
