hope you are right but it may make sense for the club to release statement confirming clubs long term plan and ambitions are still in place.
i would like to know if we are still going to spend the same amount on new players etc.

Why just to stop stupid rumours? they would have to issue a statement every week.

To be honest Fred, I think the club should consider making a statement soon about our future plans and ambitions. There are bound to be rumours about players leaving, AT leaving, Millward leaving etc. that is natural. But I think as soon as possible something should be announced, not just to stop rumours, but as damage limitation. We have had two disastrous seasons from the point of view of standard of rugby. No one can say they have enjoyed this season, apart from 1 or 2 matches, in real terms not much of an improvement on last season, which must be one of the clubs worst seasons in it's entire history. Everyone now is convinced Widnes will be promoted, leaving us in Division One for the foreseeable future. All of this is the fans view, based on rumour and a little knowledge and in some cases common sense. It would be nice to get the clubs view on how they think we have progressed, where they think we are going (up or down!) and what plans they have in place. A lot of people are going to need a lot of persuading to buy a season ticket for next year. The sooner that persuading starts the better, and the less rumours will be doing the rounds.

Agree with your post ,the club should and hopefully will come out with a statement on how things are going to progress or not into next season

What it sounds like is we need a Q&A night with At and IM.

The club will know they have to start moving on next season, and from what I am hearing they are doing. The season finished for us 4 days ago and you're all talking like the club are not doing anything and keeping you in the dark. For starters there are 8 SL teams still in season and 4 championship clubs, who knows what players will be available from those teams.

Also how can a club sell a season ticket when the format of the leagues could change between now and then. That isn't down to Leigh, its down to the RFL. Yes Widnes are doing it, but Widnes are all about getting in peoples faces for the last few weeks, they seem to be party to decisions 'not yet made' don't they.

Come back and restart the above thread in 4-6 weeks time. There are alot of decisions to be made, alot of players to sign by the sound of things, alot of players contracts to sort out. There are only so many club staff. If you want to pay the salary of extra staff, then go ahead, or do what Tommy Sale has done for x number of years and offer your services for free.

I also hope that players about to sign, do not get their names published on here till they have signed. We have lost a few players over the years, who, when their availability has been known have gone to other clubs who come in with a better offer.

Patience is a virtue, they say. Lets have a bit of a break guys. Planning for next year started on Friday 3rd September. It looks like we now have at least 4 years at this level (or below god forbid) and I do not envy AT, the directors and coaches, with realigning our plans for the next 4 years.

Thanks to the club for an enjoyable season, even though our ultimate goals eluded us.

Get off the clubs back

For starters i'm sure they know who is going and i for one would like to know if certain players are going to be retained ,they don't have to announce who is coming or who they want yet as like you said the season isn't over for some clubs

I'm sure you would, but unless you're a player there is no need for press releases/statements at the moment. Rumours, contrary to belief, will not destabilise the club, and neither will statements strengthen it.
Those who will be watching next year will watch anyway, those who won't, won't, but the playing staff is entirely down to management and players.

I`ll be happy to be watching a successful Leyth side in the Championship, playing exciting RL and with a greater winning ratio each season. If we `re fortunate to get to a NRFor GF i`ll be more than happy.
As for SL I`m not particular bothered about being there , we could n`t compete in monetary terms anyway and if I win the Euro Big one I`ve already pledged to turn the DW Stadium into a potato field. I would n`t have much left for putting funds Leyths way.......

Absolutely correct,The club should be allowed too concentrate on winning on the field, and the fans regardless of what League we are in should support them, 3-3,500 every week isnt impossible.

Its amazing that people wont watch Leigh because they think they are pants.

Bums on seats means money, which means more cash for wages.

The paying public can have a real say in the success of the team, they just don't think about it/can be bothered.

Can you tell me the last game you went away from the LSV thinking 'I really enjoyed that I cant wait for the next one' ?

You need to delight your home fans with entertaining RL that they go away and talk about, if you are to increase crowds in this division.

imho 3000 with no promotion is a tough call, linked to great RL and a 3 year promotion strategy it is possible.
