| Haven't a clue what is happening to 'The Centurion' next season. I guess it could boil down to sales/profitability. For my part, I still haven't got over us not producing one for the Sheffield game.

| My feeling is that it is an important way of communicating with the supporters. If you break the continuity, fans may stop buying it. Still, they will get many weeks now, to get out of the habit!

As a matter of interest, FS, were you aware that hardly any Championship clubs produce their own programme? The RFL has 'helped them out' by producing 'Game On' magazine. 'Game On' is a fine publication, in its own right, but is of more general interest than a club's own programme, which is usually about that club and its visitors.
Presumably Salford produce their own programme? What would be your feelings if they stopped doing that?

I must admit I do like the Game On magazine because of the fact it does look at the whole competition, and its good to know whats happening - I don't buy any RL papers nowadays.
I do like how the club sell our own and give the Game On - shame its not guaranteed but that reason has been given already.
Also I keep meaning to call into the ticket office to collect the Halifax program that I couldn't get when I went to the actual match. I still don't know if "Alex's Dad" got home from that adventure to France. I won't ask if any are still knocking about - because someone will post "Try ringing them up" with the phone number.

Think you've misunderstood me mate, my question was why there 'The Centurion' wasn't produced for the Sheffield game (not why you were disappointed by it - I can totally understand that!) Probably should've made myself a bit clearer.
I am fully aware that very few Championship clubs produce their own programme and was delighted to hear that you were going to carry on producing your own after 'Game On' was introduced. Not sure the the RFL helped anyone out by introducing Game On though?!?
And as for Salford, yes we have our own programme but I think it being withdrawn would be a huge relief to all concerned because frankly, it's dire!

Salford don't need an editor, do they?
The given reasons for not producing a programme were:-
1 Too little time after Wembley! (although we knew for two weeks that we would be playing Sheffield)
2 Historically, midweek sales are lower than weekends. (Leythers can't read in the dark!)
Personally, I think the true reason was a financial one, and when you look at the 'gate', (1512) the decision was probably justified.
Apologies for the misunderstanding!

| As I can't be bothered getting up and looking at a previous programme, who do you use as printers, Alan? If the likes of LGFC can produce a damn fine publication with dashing editors to match then I'm sure it's possible for the rugby!

That's the way forward Matt, "In House" publication's to cut down on printing cost's..........
Carlisle United (with a fanbase of aprox. 5500 ) used to use the Cornwall firm "O Publishing" who do the "Matchday Magazine" for a number of football, RL and RU sides, this season though they have cut the programme size to 16 pages and the price from £3 to £1.....early season sales are reportedly up 250 - 300 % and Carlisle estimate they will save in the region of £4000 plus in printing costs over the season.....great having a match day programme as good as any in SL or football but like any business decision it as to be cost effective and as we can't generate sales to cover even 400 progs per game then perhaps a rethink might be in order. Rather have a scaled down version of " The Centurion" than none at all.

Colourplan - they produce programmes for a number of sporting organisations.
