Pandering to fans of the nancy-ballers!! Whatever next?!?!?!

I fear it would have been a financial disaster to leave the ko at 3.00pm to be honest common sense has prevailed i say.

I was at the RL international against France and arrived in Leigh early.

I was in Leigh yesterday afternoon after our footie team slaughtered Siberia/Slovenia 1-0. I sometimes go to Leigh Thursday nights to watch the Championhsip game on Sky it is impossible to watch it in a pub in the posh part of Salford. You have to ask at a pub in Leigh to put the RL game on and you watch it with 4or 5 people who will tell you they used to go to Hilton Park but do not any more because it is now over Leigh Bridge' to near to Pennington or being run by crooks and twisters who sold us down the river god knows when.

The sad truth is people prefer footie to RL. Footie is constantly on TV it is easy to play and cheap to watch if you are in Leigh cos it is on in the pub.It is a simple game with so much skill you are transported to Cococabana beach or think you are because your mind wanders as you are so bored an England goal is orgasmic.

Yeh we beat the English equivalent of Hartlepool 1-0 yesterday and the town and country is sing.

No wonder our club and other RL clubs have changed their Sunday kick off times.

One day soon it will be the turn of the FA that will move the FA Cup final to accomodate the televising of a RL friendly international between all conquering England against Serbia.

I think you will still miss out on fans, as people will be in the pub getting their seats.1pm people will have dinner at the pub and get smashed.Many Widnes fans are not going Fev as coaches are leaving straight after the game.So that would mean missing abit of the England game.If i was not in work i be in the pub watching England on tv.I think a Saturday evening kick off be better.

If it was an evening kickoff the fans wouldn't be able to find the ground after boozing from 12 til 5.

I suppose we have had to bow to the inevitable, although I disapprove of it. Still, RL is a second-rate sport, with the media etc, and we (the RL, not Leigh)constantly go out of our way to prove it.

What might have been really helpful, in swelling our gate, was if the official announcement had actually said where the 'roundball' game could have been watched 'live'. As Dick said earlier, the LSV could make a killing here, by announcing they were going to show England v Germany, and the drinks would be cheaper. But they haven't obviously said that they are going to televise it.

Just been talking to a fanatical, out of town Leyther, who knew nothing about this change. Nor would he be likely to know, as he doesn't get local papers. Are we about to alienate some fans, over this?

If someone had used their noggin there was only 2 time slots England could possibly have played in this round, Saturday 7.30pm or Sunday 3pm. Wouldn't it have made sense then to arrange this fixture at a time that avoids both these. As said earlier, many people still won't come as they will want to get in the pub early for a good vantage point. It's no use the hard liners moaning about people preferring to watch England to Leigh but it's the World Cup for gods sake. Should have been played Friday night or Saturday afternoon.

I think its best all round for 1pm KO. Saturday afternoon, and Friday Evening would have clashed with other WC games. This way, as the official site also says we get to see Leigh followed by England.
The negative side of this is obviously fans not looking for a change in time (I suppose you could say why would they). Hopefully the message will get out there and nobody is messed about because of not knowing.

Who could have predicted that England would have got through this far?!?!?!

They should of changed England kick off time to 7pm , will miss both the rugby and football because of work , well might get to see last 15 minutes of the footy
