These are the original plans from a few years ago. Things have changed a bit since then! Due to the Cinema being priced out of the site, in turn the bars and restaurants that were originally interested have gone cold on the idea. The rest of the site will probably change to a retail park now as they are the only interested parties left.

Does a single supermarket count as a retail park?

Back to the point, i'm still suprised a pub hasn't been built. With the college and all the activity in the evenings, never mind just on matchdays.

I bet what there is left of the shops in Leigh aren't impressed with this Tesco across the road from them.

Our kid is the manager of a shop in Leigh and he's worried.

And that's not to mention Morrison's being built on the LSV. In fact, we'd only be short of a Waitrose and an M&S and we've got every supermarket in the country?!

the tesco plan is to develop the site of Barlo radiators and david brown tractors. Not the Leos site.

Their plan is for a 100ksqf extra store, which in laymans is about the same size as sainsburys and asda put together.

The sweetener for the council is that they will help fund the leisure development that was planned for LSV.

You could argue that this will be good for the town centre as it will have lots of free parking close to SJ and Bradshawgate.

On the negative can the current road network support it?

Morrisons have their planning permission for a 30ksqf store on LSV.

Looking at those original plans, and the location of Morrison's will it stop the view of the stadium from the bypass?

And whilst we're discussing the redevelopment of the town centre, I wish someone would accidentally knock those damned railway arches down

me too the railway arches are just a nasty reminder of wot we've not got now

I can remember when they were going to redevelop those arches into " bars, retail units" ........ I say keep them and utilise them.

Any redevelopment should be welcomed - Leigh town centre is an s-hole.

If they're going to do it then fine, but I can't see it happening, there's empty shops and pubs all over Leigh which would be easier to convert. They're nothing more that a complete eyesore, just knock the frigging things down.



I could improve a lot of Leigh town centre with few sticks of dynamite and a good JCB driver.
