where was Nicky Stanton he wasn't even on the bench tonight? I hope he's not injured

He will prove to be a good squad player throughout the season and I would hope he gets an opportunity if Millward decides to rest a player or more importantly play him if someone has a shocker and deserves to be dropped.

Steve has certainly earned his place over the last couple of games, maybe Millward is bringing the best back ot of him?

..and it was nice to see our full back back to his best (bar the shocking dropped ball!!) backing up and earning two tries for his efforts

Donlan was impressive with the ball & did some match savig tackles too

I still imagined Stanton on the bench but as long as he's not injured I'm happy

On the issue of that dropped ball, I think a degree of blame can be pinned on our line not putting any pressure whatsoever on Rooney and effectively letting him pick his spot.

Its a marathon not a sprint as they say,Stanton will get a chance during the season,sooner or later you pick up injuries.He has to grab that chance when he gets it,same could be said about Meakin,Ridyard,AJ and others,competition for places can only be a good thing.

Stanton is not Big enough ,for me , weak on the high balls ,Basil wont carry passengers , but i think good competition for places will make the fringe, buck up , our pack looked Lean and Mean tonight ,i was very impressed,Basil WILL sort things out ,but not to everybodies liking, its either SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT.

Stanton has the speed, no doubt , even the guts to run hard, but cant see him Growing any now.

I doubt it at 20. Hs is awesome for the championship I suppose he'll be the player that could of been something because with a bit more height he would of been destin for SL. We got him from Wigoon & it wasn't for his lack of ability that they let him go but his lack of height I believe.

The Pies have let many better players go,Nicky is OK as a Squad player ,but if we sign any more backs he would go down the Pecking order, although ,ive nowt against him , he gives his best every game, cant ask for much more .

Try passing the the ball to him would be a good start.

How many time last season and this season as he been out jumped and the team as got a try from it.

Madan is not a winger imo to slow for wing

Personally i think it was purely down to his size that he was'nt picked ,that Barrow squad has some pretty big fellas .

Totally Wrong!

We broke 2 or 3 times on our left second half and could have put the game to bed early had we had some pace on Madens wing.

Yes Maddo is showing desire and commitment this season and looks leaner but Stanton has the pace to put sides on the back foot like Ballard did for Barrow.

Modern day RL rarely calls for Wingers on the bench.

Think the lights might have had a bearing as well. Can't see feck all when the ball gets in the line of the lights

Well I rate him and although he might not be the tallest he is in great physical shape and is very quick.Alex wasn't that tall was he and he did ok in his playing days.

Following this not big enough discussion why did we re-sign Durbin for example ?

Having said that though I am quite happy to have IM picking the team.

Neither of them are wingers, and as such won't get pumelled with the high ball.

It was definitely Rooney's fault! I think he kicked it too high and Stuart lost it in the super turned-up-for-telly HD lighting.

Stanton and Nanyn should be a leathal wing/centre pairing in this division......they just don't get anywhere near enough ball!! Although that has improved from last season!!!
