Now the shop has gone where can I go to get some Leigh Centurion gear (posters , pens, caps, tops etc, etc) for a youngster.
I see the website hopes to have it online from next year but where is the club selling stuff now the shop has gone (Havn't kept uptodate with where the club now sells its merchandise).

On a seperate track has anyone any definate info on the likely cost next year of
a) Adult season ticket
b) child season ticket
c) North stand adult.

Heard that Oniells/the club are to rent a shop in the centre too sell there gear from.....

Not true

I heard a whisper that leigh will be manning the old Oneils shop at the stadium in the run up to Christmas, a bit like them firework shops that spring up in October for a couple of weeks.

On a seperate note i know of 2 independent town centre retailers who have offered Leigh a wall in their shops to sell merchandise for no finnancial gain and both were turned down.

Did i mention Asda will be stocking Leigh stuff shortly

If the O'Neiil's contract is anything like the 2009 one - and presumably it is - then Leigh Centurions have nothing to sell. I believe the deal with O'Neiil's was/is that they have the sole right to sell Leigh Centurions merchandise.

Wayne, I believe that Morrison's have been approached, to have an O'Neiil's concession in their LSV store. (when it gets built!)

thing is the outlets i just named where all promised to the town as part of the LSV, they where used as a selling point to various parties like the park inn yet non of them have or even vaguely look like appearing.
if they had been built that possibly would have brought more people to the LSV site and the oniells shop may have had more passing custom.

the LSV management have let a lot of people down with this.

Planning permission has been submitted for a Supermarket and Petrol Station at the site. There's a sign on one of the lamp posts outside the Sports Centre.

Is it the management company or the council though Wayne? If the original proposals had gone through without the interference (though in the end was it necessary?) of the council well who knows??

It's a shame the planned cinema/bowling alley/bars & restaurants etc never materialised at LSV. Don't know the reasons behind this but the state of the economy hasn't helped. Just think, if we hadn't had the stadium built when we did you have to wonder if it would have been built at all the way things have been the last 18 months. I believe there are plans for a cinema on the Barlo site that there are plans to develop but again who knows when the money will be made available for it to be built.

Have any of you seen the news in the last 12 months?? There has been one of the worst recessions in living memory. Is it any wonder the supermarket and bowling alley isn’t in place at the village?? LSV deserve some criticism but sometimes the mind boggles on here when people continually blame them for everything.

Rest assured if that recession had been 18 months earlier we probably wouldn’t have been at the LSV and there wouldn’t be a Park Inn and on the back of that you wouldn’t be welcoming Ian Millward home in a week’s time!

I presumbing with AT publicly asking fans to back the club (be it via season ticket purchases or other revenue streams) there is a plan in place for fans to be [iable[/i to do this before the on line shop comes on tap.
We are in the christmas shopping part of the year now though so some smartish action is required otherwise a lot of money opportunitys are going to be missed.

Think I said that in a roundabout sort of way.

I'm sure the club realise something is needed. Think someone mentioned on an earlier thread something was in the pipeline.

In fairness to LSV its not really their fault.

One of the key things about the whole village was the Developer had to provide the public stuff before they got the chance for their day in the sun.

They did their bit, layed out tens of millions before they got a bite of the cherry. Then the recession came, land/rental values dropped, and investors got nervous. Theres a few other odds and sods but they're best left alone.



Thats why nowt been built and its the same all over the land.

LSV would love the chance for the village to be full because it will increase their own pulling power, generate more money, and 'in the spirit of things' help the 'partners'.

It's their fault we've not got a shop. I remember somebody saying they were charging £4K per month to rent the place that O'Neills were using. How the hell where they ever supposed to make that back?

Absolutely, Wayne. That plus the fixture set-up, meant people were not being attracted to the site, on a frequent basis.
