But we're Leigh, they can't relegate us to the lower division. Good god, do they have no respect for the historic heartland clubs? Pushing all these damn froggies up and pushing us down, its a disgrace.

Hope RFL change the rule to just 1 up 1 down for next season.

2 up 2 down isn't right. Its a mistake to have done it the season gone. We may have been given a reprieve from relegation if there was a situation that allowed it. Like Bramley (icon_wink.gif) coming in etc.
Regarding ourselves, we should be the best team next season so shouldn't (but this is Leigh of course) have any problems with just 1 up.
I sure miss them GF's.....

Why , because we are breaking the rules as regards the salary cap ?

My conscience is clear on that score tbh. As long as we can afford it, and the club and RFL have sorted it don't care. The other clubs (should they be able to afford) should be allowed to do the same by getting rid of the silly salary cap.

We sure as hell moaned about the same a few years ago when we had Huddersfield and Salford down with us

I have learned there is no such thing as doing it "the right way" or having level playing field in professional sport.
SL should keep the salary cap. They are different comp and don't have P&R. We are separate comp and have P&R.

2 up 2 down is fine, IMHO, so long as there's not a great drop between NL1 and NL2 (as was).

2 up 2 down between SL and NL1 would never have worked (even 1 up 1 down didn;t really work) because of the huge gulf between the divisions.

If NL1 and 2 (as was) can be made eqaully competitive there's no reason why 2 up 2 down shouldn't work, as it certainly adds to the excitement for significantly more clubs.

This years NL1 would've been over and done with at the bottom by April if it'd only been 1 up 1 down.

The bottom of SL was done and dusted in April too.

3 up 3 down would also add to the excitement too.

There is 10 clubs in each league. Surely top 6 being an aim for clubs during season, but failing means a relegation fight. Where is the buffer zone like other comps?
Also 2 clubs up from C1 just devalues the achievement of promotion from such a small league.

Which is exactly why I have spent more time watching Championship RL this year than SL, despite being a Salford fan.

Seriously though, taking this season as an example, Donny were bound to go down and Dewsbury bound to go up before the half way point in the season.

That means that bottom half of NL1 and top half of NL2 have nothing to play for - it'd make it as dull as the bottom half of SL?!

How about a system like the Scottish FA had (may still have?) where the bottom of Div1 goes down, the top of Div2 comes up then next-to-bottom in Div1 plays next-to-top of Div2 in a two-legged (home and away) playoff to see who deserves the spot in Div1 the year after?

That would seem like a reasonable compromise, and gives the RFL another end of season, high stakes 'spectacle' which they seem to like.

I don't know how you would fit GF into all of that tbh. My ideal situation is 1 team winning GF of C1 goes up. Once you are giving clubs 2 chances of going up from only 10 clubs then thats when its devalued.

Say's who, as I understand it there are regulations in place to allow teams to be over the salary cap - Mr Wood says so, so it must be true

cant see bramley going into ch 1 as the are playing in the conferance for the winter season,but with r l you never know i am sure had it been gateshead in our position then the rules would of been altered
