| LEIGH MINERS 20 V 18 SIDDAL
Leigh Miners ended Siddal's unbeaten start to the season this afternoon with a hard thought 20-18 victory at Twist Lane, Miners opened the scoring early on when winger Tom Bradbury opened the scoring with a penalty goal. Siddal replied after 10 minutes when stand off Shaun Garrod went through the miners defence to score, the kick converted giving the visitors a 6-2 lead, miners replied straight away when a nice kick through from Dave Rolt saw centre Ross Bradley pounce onto score,Bradbury converting giving the host a 8-6 lead. The rest of the half belonged to Siddal as they dominated field position and scored two well worked trys giving them a deserved 16-8 advantage.
Miners started the second half brightly and got themselves back into the game when Dave Rolt dived over from close range, Bradbury again kicking the extras giving Siddal a 16-14 lead, Siddal increased the lead a couple of minutes later with a penalty goal score 18-14 with half an hour to play. Both teams battled it out for the next 25 minutes knowing the next score would be vital on the outcome of the match, the deadlock was broken when miners Ross Bradley scored outwide bringing the scores level at 18-18 with minutes to play. From the kick off Siddal gave away a penalty and where marched an extra ten for back chat giving miners a chance to win the game with a penalty goal, Bradbury held is nerve kicking from 40 yards out giving miners a 20-18 victory.
Next week Miners travel to Cumbria when they visit Wath Brow Hornets.
Miners 2nds continued there unbeaten start to the season with a victory at Adlington Rangers
