Couldn't agree more, rewarding losers is a farce & typical of the RFL. Teams should be proud enough to fight to the end regardless of the inevitability of the outcome.

I dont think it would have affected our outcome this season but sheffield is a diferent matter.

Another RL farce is the bonus point.

Widnes who have LOST 8 are in 3rd place
Fev have only LOST 5 but are in 6th place.

Agreed that this will make the teams play to the very last minute and this has produced some very strange results on the table this year.

I do however hope that the supposed none winable games that we have left this season produce a bonus point for us.

Just look at sheffield and us. If we win saturday it will be P17 W8 D0 L9 BP3 PTS 27. And will b in 8th place. Were shef are at the moment are P17 W8 D0 L9 BP9 PTS33 and are in 5th place. Ok we'd still be in same postion pretty much but Sheff would be dogfight with ur. Summet not reet there.

The bonus point adds some sporting interest and I quite like it, but the c**p teams are still at the bottom of the table and the good ones are at the top.

A clear indicator how poor our great game has become, we need a bonus point for losing within 12 points to add interest.

You're right, however we've had more big tonkings that Sheffield, and is reflected in the points for/against.

It's a way of saying 'you're bizz' but 'you're bizzer'.

I don't like bonus points but for a team to only be beaten by a magin of 12 or less in all their defeats is outstanding. I you see what i mean

Overall points difference will only ever mean 1 point difference over the whole season. Every Sheffield loss has been close, many of ours have been by a country mile and the lack of bonus points reflects that.

I dunno, there's pros and cons to it, I've no problem with the theory but when things like that happen yesterday, it does make a bit of a mockery of it.

I like the bonus point and think it should stay - I'd like to see it in Super League as well.

Dont agree with it never have you win or you lose end of.

Still think it would be fairer if it was like this:

4pts for a win
2pts for a draw
1pt for a loss by 6 or less

The table wouldn't rely on the bp quite the same but would still reward the losing team in a close match.

is a team losing against team "X" by less than 12pts more deserving of something than another team getting beat by team "X" by 50pts? Seems harsh to give those 2 teams equal reward of nowt.
Also the most important bit is supporters. Bringing in new rules to make the game more engrossing is welcome in my book, just like the dozens of new rules that have been brought in since 1895 to make the game more entertaining

I think teams that battle to the end and stay within touching distance of the top sides deserve some credit.

An extra competition point is far more of an incentive than +6 in the Points Difference column.

Bonus Point = REWARDING FAILURE!

Ironically you have more chance of getting a bonus point if your losing by 20-30 points in the last 15 mins or so. As the winning team genuinely switch off and you may get a chance to run in 2 or 3 late tries. Alternatively you can be in the game (losing by 4-8 points) with 15 mins left concede 2 late tries and not get anything.

Yep, although Featherstone are three points from the top of the Championship, without gaining a single bonus point. Mind you, if they had got four, in their five defeats, they would have been top!

Luckily, Gateshead have only picked up three, in their nine defeats!
