I got thinking after yesterdays game ( dont be to shocked I know) about the number of teams being relegated from our division. Before anyone says its only because my team is in danger then yes you are right for the first time in over a decade I have worried about relegation from this division. But it has got some ground for debate.

How can any league relegate 20% of its teams? In an era when there is NO relegation from the top flight for three years how can it be right that the direct league below loses 20% of its teams on a yearly basis?

All this week and in fact for the last several both Leigh and Gateshead have spent days on the phones trying to entice new players to their respective clubs all in the hope of winning 3 or 4 of their last games to ensure survival.

Now just imagine if one club went down this year, how much money would Leigh and Gateshead save? How many of our succesful U21's side could be played without fear of relegation?

Due to this 20% relegation policy how many of those respective 21's will never probably get a chance?

All food for thought of course and in my opinion neither Gateshead or Leigh will go down. Further checks of the league table shows that Barrow have won only 3 and 4 games more than Leigh and Gateshead. Again which league would relegate a team thats won 4 less games than the team that sits second?

We argued for P and R to SL , so it would be highly hypocritical to argue against it now

If we did go down how many clubs would we want to be promoted up from Championship 1 ?

You must give the clubs down there the chance to move up , just look at Oldham at the moment , they are in a fight with Keighley and York to get the best play off slot

You cannot take that away from them

I actually think it's more or less spot on - this season would have been over months ago if it was only one down, given Donny's implosion, while two new clubs coming in to the division each year certainly keeps things fresh, rather than visiting the same grounds, year after year.

Given that Toulouse can`t be relegated the odds are 22% ...

I think had Doncaster not gone pear shaped (as cockney coppers say on TV), then 1 club going down would have been interesting also this season because of how competitive the league is this year
Also don't think anyone was being negative about P&R, just number of clubs going down seems harsh. Chasing top 6 and a couple of bad results you are relegated. The leagues too small and needs bigger buffer between success and heartache.
Also making it too easy to enter this league by having 2 up also takes away the prestiege and acheivement of getting promotion etc.

Not according to Taggarts dismissive predictable comments. He's nearly as bad as their fans, claiming we are insignificant at every opportunity (little tip Fergie and fans, stop going on about us then if we are)

Bart, not sure if you have realised but there are 11 teams in this division. Take Toulouse out and that leaves 10. It is still possible that the team finishing 9th will get relegated.....now that would be a real pi55er. Now that would be an interesting debate

Although I obviously want our club to be at the top table every Leigh fan yesterday knew we had to get behind our lads and we all know why.

How have you all thought today ? I know I have been sing.

Looking at the attendances from this week in the Championships we need all the clubs to be able to retain an interest for as long as possible

I've said it before on here IMO only Donny to go down!

I'd like to see the championship increased to 12 teams and bring a couple of the top amateur teams in to championship one such as Bramley who have been trying to get back in for years. Maybe then have 1 up 1 down which will allow teams more time to develop.

You seriously think the RFL will let another team from Leeds join the semi pro ranks

They are also run by a supporters trust , the RFL do not like clubs run by supporters
