Dya know Dave I hate reading articles like this nearly as much as our lost game reports. I hope they can come through it.

I don't feel sorry for any club going into administration (i do for the fans) fact is if you spend too much, and more than you can afford this is what happens (we should know) Going into administration is the easy way out of debt Oldham showed the rest what should be done by paying off their debts over a period of time not shutting shop and re forming under a new name!

CASH-STRAPPED Dons were placed in administration today to try to save the club from going out of business.
Although the club was not faced with a winding up order chief executive Dave Marshall yesterday called in financial experts who declared that it was insolvent leaving directors with no alternative but to move into administration.

Jeremy Bleazard of Cleckheaton based XL Business Solutions has been appointed as the club's administrator.

He said: "After reviewing the financial position of the club, it was clear the company was insolvent.

"The directors faced a difficult decision but the only real alternative available to them was to place the club into liquidation which would spell the end of Doncaster rugby league club forever.

"Administration will give the club a lifeline until a buyer can be found."

But he warned: "The cash flow for the club is extremely tight and the company will need an injection of funds to continue trading to the end of the season."

Marshall said: "The plight of the club has been well publicised recently.

"Like many other professional sporting clubs across the country the current economic downturn has affected our income.

"We have taken steps to reduce our overheads and have tried to secure income from others sources.

"Unfortunately it has not been sufficient to turn the club around."

Money problems are beginning to bite hard throughout the Championship, just ask one or two of our reserve team players

And give us another month between home fixtures, if the August 2nd game is cancelled!!!!

Whoever at Red Hall came up with this fixture arrangement, shouldn't just be sacked, he/she should be sued for loss of income. I'm not surprised that clubs are in trouble, when they only play at home every Preston Guild!!

Your right Alan its no wonder not enough income for the Championship club the way the format is at present, maybe they should consider bringing in the" John Player "Trophy or something.

The RFL are doing the Championship Clubs a huge favour in creating such a vibrant competition.

A few glorified friendlies in the Rail Cup, perhaps a couple of CC games against some pig famers from Uzbekistan or a pub team from Barnet, (if you're really lucky you even might get to play a SL reserve team).

Add 10 home league games (where we shall play our biggest rivals on a Thursday night), 4 of which are over the 'summer' months of June, July, and August. Yes, 4 home games in 3 months, you read it right. And one of those is a Saturday night to suit the French.

Then, if we're lucky enough we [imight[/i get a couple of home games in the plays offs.

Whoo bloody hoo.

That is clearly more than enough income for anyone to grow sustainably and financially strong enough to make the next step up come Franchise Day.

Can see the stage of it just becoming one division again and the end of the Choo Choo Cup.

But that would be preferable when our extra home games would consist of us putting 70 points past Hunslet, the Skolars etc (no disrespect to those clubs)?
