Totally agree what a poor start all that pressure and nothing to show for it and then second half much better but still made silly mistakes but as i have said on another thread Watto should have got a penalty not a knock on even if we did got the rub with the penalty count totally totally gutted.

tommy saxton, who should really be still in super league, showed him up many times tonight. and his one on one defence in key areas is woeful

Now do people actually Believe how good Ian Watson is? He was outstanding tonight.

He was. But wasted if the team can't read what he is doing!

Watson IS the team without him well it does'nt bare thinking about but as i've said on another thread i dont think they use Stantons spead a kick now and again for him to chase please he would leave every standing for goodness sake

its not the rest of the team its that he needs a proper 6 at the side of him all the goo sevens have a good 6 with them a team cant perform with just 1 halfback its simple Watson has been outstanding theis yuear playiung on hes own

Maden hasn't got enough pace to play on the wing anymore and was told to 'bulk up' over pre-season to presumably play in the centres. My backline would be the same as Maurice's. I think thats the best backline we could put it out but whether we see it this season is another matter.

end of the day Maden cannot play centre he cant pass got bad hands hes strong and quick enough to play on the wing outside donlan who would attract centre and winger out wide Maden is definatly a better option than stanton even though Stanton hass done nothing wrong

Know I will get shot down for this but this is how we should play the back line without Williams:-

Donlan
Maden
Nanyn
Alstead
Stanton
Ridyard
Watson
( Mort on bench with Durbin as impact players, Ridyard is a HB by trade - so use him, Donlan is not a HB)

With Williams:-

Donlan
Maden
Nanyn
Alstead
Stanton
Williams
Watson

(Only difference is drop Ridyard and use him when injuries kick in to either HB)

Maybe but we need to start with Donlan at FB and interchange him with Mort...... Mort is doing well but his positional play was targeted last night which led to a couple of try`s against us, he will learn and develope a lot better IMO learning from Stu rather than only him at FB.
Mort has done nothing wrong so far BUT will gain more experiance under an experianced player rather than having too much responsability on his shoulders for a young lad......Donlan will play for a couple more years at the most and should be tutoring Mort as he has more experiance in this league and top flight...... Mort will develope and become our star FB for years to come.

Or switch Nanyn to the bench as he could cover 2nd row as well as play centre, put Maden to centre and start Mort on the wing?

maden is good on attack but not worth selecting imo as his defence is and has been woeful all season. Alsted is i'm afraid injury prone did we take a risk with him last night that backfired? i don't think he would of missed the tackles if he was on the field antway it aint the end of the world a bonus point was gained and a victory was in our grasp so we can't really complain (i'm sure many will tho

)
