| I'll never call the two clowns on sky again, after listening to the B.B.C. commentary today French and Kear were telling us every two minutes what a good game Ben Thaler was having and as soon as they said it He made yet another mistake He was terrible, also Darling Jonathan in the summary box seemed to go to sleep three times what a terrible droning voice that man has, Eddie and Stevo rule O.K.

| I don't think Rugby League is blessed with commentating talent.
Currently, I'd go for Bill Arthur and Phil Clarke.

The mistakes were shockingly one sided. A invisible forward pass which cancels an opening try for the Dragons, two penalties given to the Saints in the Catalans' 20m for balls which were not clearly in Saints hands (each penalty ending in a try for St Helens), and others...
The Saints are already good enough. We don't need the ref to remove any hope of winning the game

| watching the game as a neutral i didnt see the ref help either team on purpose.
think yourself lucky you got fast tracked to super league and didnt have to suffer the clowns we have each week
you was beaten by a far better team, go away, lick your wounds and give it another go in the league

| Well mate when even the BBC commentators list only mistakes against our side, I think that it does not come only from my standard level of paranoia.

| what a missed opportunity it was, nowt to do with the game, imo the game should not of been selected for tv, i reckon we as rl knew it was going to be a one sided romp, why o why did they not select the cas/fax match, and i did suggest it prior to it being such a close result, the game today would not of attracted any new fans to our game that's for sure, and as for french well he should be put out to grass by the bbc. dave parkinson for the job.

| The Beeb are hopeless at picking games, this was always going to be a walkover.
I'd have moved the Cas v Halifax game to Sunday, it was always going to competitive but nobody could have known how much so.

| Well I can't complain about us being on TV, but I think that the Fax match should have been picked because the team does well and it is not often enough we can see Championship sides. The Fax match should have replaced the Wigan match.
In any case with a proper refereeing the game St game would have been more interesting. St Helens would certainly have won, but at least we would have had a better spectacle and more suspense.

'" Like you ,probably, I watched it on the BBC. The invisible forward pass,as you call it, looked forward to me. The incident when the young Saints centre stole the ball however ,and, which resulted in a penalty to Saints that led to a try I agree was wrong.
The ref was even handed imo and even with you reffing you must agree who would have won.

Well it does not look forward on the replay, nobody in the BBC studio thought it was forward, and many English fans thinks the ref handed too many decisions to the Saints
www.totalrl.com/index.php?showtopic=175705
They certainly do not need it. For me the ref killed the small chance of competition there was in this match.

More important than that was Meli caught the high ball more than once in 80 mins and it stayed in his hands........amazing

| Good call on the Cats player batting the ball back into play after the short kick off though, my immediate reaction was "WHAAAAAAT???" but a moments thought and I'm convinced he was right.
Cats were robbed on at least one of the two occasions where both players had a call, but I'd agree about the forward pass in the run up to the disallowed try, I shouted it as soon as it happened. IIRC there was another earlier in the move that was missed too.
Saints were always going to win that, but Thaler didn't help.

| Thaler is probably the best ref we have in RL at the min and yeah he did make a couple of mistakes but compared to NL refs he's light years ahead. Wait till Childs is in SL then you'll see some top errors, also on the topic of refs thought Ganson was a little weighty when i saw him reffing last weekend, those split fish and curries but be taking its toll on him.
